Rejected

Just like to let you know that I got a reply today - I was rejected because I had "too many spelling mistakes".

I'm slightly pissed off about it considering I double checked my spelling in MS Word before I sent it and also I was one of the top spellers in my class at school. I'm not going to complain though (although I do disagree with the rejection) because I come on here regularly and this forum is just filled with stupid complaints from people who got rejected and it's really annoying just to read how little respect some people have for the volunteers here. I'm not going to re-apply as I couldn't be bothered hoping for a month that I got accepted and then being rejected (this is the second time).

So anyway.......I'd just like to say good luck to everyone, I was hoping to be able to help you all out but it wasn't to be. And also good luck to Jim Noble who seems to get a great guy and extremely helpful to editor hopefuls and a very fair guy too.

mark,

It sounds as if the reviewing meta didn't say that you shouldn't try again. It sounds like (not knowing the full details of the email you received) that the only problem they were able to find was spelling errors. Spelling and grammar in the language for the category you applied to is important so if you demonstrated numerous errors then you most likely would be rejected. If that is truly all that is wrong with the application resubmitting one and manually checking (sometimes my spell checker fouls up or I used a word that spelled differently has different meanings (pin vs pen for example) and the spell checker saw the word was ok even though it didn't fit the sentance I was placing it in.

Considering you seem like you want to help, filling out the application one more time and triple checking to make sure everything is good would be pretty simple.

Nice guy and extremely helpful to us editors too :)

Best of luck with whatever you decide.
