charlesleo Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I looked through my logs today and saw 'links from an external search engine' that DMOZ was listed. I tried typing in my site name into DMOZ search and it didn't pull up. Unfortunately, my site hit top 15 of a major category this morning and I think my webhost got hit hard cause my site is not responding now... I've written my host about it. So what do/can I do? Is it just a matter of bad luck and timing?
Meta nea Posted June 26, 2006 Meta Posted June 26, 2006 Well, DMOZ search sometimes lags behind -- if your site was listed recently (I don't know if it was) it might not show up in search for a few days more. Check the relevant category, that's the most reliable way to see if it's listed. Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
charlesleo Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 Thanks for the reply. Is that an indicator that you've already probably been listed? I just contacted my host and the site is fixed now - supposedly an 'Apache' error on their end and 'wwon't happen again.'
Meta nea Posted June 26, 2006 Meta Posted June 26, 2006 I'm sorry, I have no idea. Search engines are a closed book to me. Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
charlesleo Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 Well - the logs (Cpanel AWStats) identified DMOZ as a search engine - probably a misnomer but something of an indicator no less.
giz Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 The referrer stats will tell you the exact category, if you have a proper webhost.
