assaf Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Hi there I submitted my website not long ago but I can't remember the exact category. Is there a way to know which category I submitted my website to? Thanks, Assaf
motsa Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 There are ways for editors to find that information but not non-editors.
assaf Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 Thanks for the quick reply. Can one othe editors tell me?
Meta hutcheson Posted June 30, 2006 Meta Posted June 30, 2006 Is there some way you could use this information to help build the directory? And if so, what is it?
assaf Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 There isn't, but I know it was not responsible from me not to write it down so I'm trying to fix my way now
Meta pvgool Posted June 30, 2006 Meta Posted June 30, 2006 Thanks for the quick reply. Can one othe editors tell me? Let's see. I would need access to all categories. I would need a lot of time to look in all those categories. Seems I (and most probably all other editors) can spend my time much better. Certainly if you understand that the answer won't help you, your site and most importantly DMOZ at all. You have already suggested your site. Good. That is all you can do. What will happen next. An editor will review the site (when we can't predict) If the site is listable and suggested in the correct category the reviewing editor will list the site. If the site is listable but suggested to a not so correct (aka wrong) category the reviewing editor will move it to the right category. If the site is not listable the reviewing editor will delete the suggestion. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
assaf Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 pvgool It seems that you are a little upset with my question. I thought it is an easy request of specifying the website and see the exact place of the waiting list, but if it is such a procedure as you specify, don't bother. One question though, if the suggestion is deleted, do I get informed?
Meta pvgool Posted June 30, 2006 Meta Posted June 30, 2006 It seems that you are a little upset with my question. I'm not upset. Just puzzled about the fact why so may people think a DMOZ listing is the post important thing that can happen to their website. One question though, if the suggestion is deleted, do I get informed? Sorry, no. From experience we know that many people do not react well to "bad" news. And although most people act normaly we would get many not-normal reactions because of the enormous amounts of sites we hanlde each day. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
Meta hutcheson Posted June 30, 2006 Meta Posted June 30, 2006 The best approach is always to follow the submittal policies. That means, in this case, if it's been 3-6 months since you suggested the site once, simply go through the exercise of finding what you think is the best category -- and suggest it again. You may not pick the same category this time -- that's all right, it happens all the time. We'll start from there and find the REALLY best category for the site, like we do for all listable sites.
