andyd2 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Hello, I applied to edit this category on July 4th: http://dmoz.org/Home/Personal_Finance/Money_Management/Weblogs/ Is there still a chance that my application will be approved or am I in denial of rejection? Will I receive an email informing me of the decision or is no news bad news? Thank you! PS: My user name is andyd2
RZ Admin photofox Posted July 15, 2006 RZ Admin Posted July 15, 2006 Hello The Forum Guidelines ask that you wait at least 14 days before requesting a status update. You are a few days early. Quote Will I receive an email informing me of the decision or is no news bad news? You should get a email letting you know if your application was accepted/rejected. Make sure to check your spam folder just incase it gets filtered out. Curlie Admin photofox
andyd2 Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 photofox, thanks for your kind reply to an over-anxious wannabe :o Do you know if my application is even pending, or is it time to move on?
motsa Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 We won't check on that until it's been at least 14 days since you last applied. And a rejection (if that should be the result of your rejection) doesn't mean you can't ever be an editor. Many editors were rejected the first couple of times they applied so you'd be in good company.
andyd2 Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 Thanks for the advice motsa. It has been 20 days since I submitted my application. One thing I've learned so far is that you guys/gals are diligent and patient! If accepted, I'd hope to be able to keep up on the diligence, but I don't know if I'm cut out for the patience side of things That said, I think your dedication to quality is reflected in the directory with very few exceptions. And I'm not just saying that!
motsa Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Quote It has been 20 days since I submitted my application.Sorry about that. I apparently can't count.
andyd2 Posted August 3, 2006 Author Posted August 3, 2006 My application was accepted yesterday Thank you again for taking the time to answer questions about my application status. From the perspective of a wanna-be editor it is nice to get feedback while waiting! To prospective editors, I can only suggest that you READ all the guidelines you can find before applying. Make the best, quality submission you're able to make, and then wait patiently... Initially I was disappointed that the process wasn't moving faster, but then realized we are *real* people and quality work takes time. If the directory was all automated, it would go faster, but then what's the point of a human directory in the first place?! I suspect my future posts will be in the editor's forum.
jimnoble Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Welcome aboard . I didn't remember this thread when I processed your application.
Meta shadow575 Posted August 3, 2006 Meta Posted August 3, 2006 Welcome!
