2 Years and 2 months here... I don't think anyone is working over there at least in the category I tried to get into.

There are several common situations that tend to result in the situation as described:

 

(1) There is an imbalance between the number of webmasters focussing on that area, and the amount of unique content published online, (i.e. spam magnet, which either takes editors' time while showing minimal visible progress, or chases editors off to more productive areas)

 

(2) There is an imbalance between the number of webmasters in that area, and the public interest generated by that kind of content (i.e. lots of indistinguishable pseudonymous websites offering conceivably legitimate but certainly facelessly unverifiable services for hire.)

 

(3) I'm sometimes puzzled at the lack of volunteer website reviewers in specific topical areas; but I think of it as an opportunity. It's just -- there are so many volunteer opportunities for a public-spirited netizen (not all at the ODP); and you just never know what the other netizens will be doing next.
