Guest qh7 Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 My site is listed a directory at DMOZ. I am also a maintainer for the virtual library (History of Iran) and host the history index at the same site. I notice that this page isn't included in the dmoz directory. I was wondering if I could submit this page in the histroy section of dmoz since it's totally different than other pages.
Meta tuisp Posted May 16, 2003 Meta Posted May 16, 2003 Without any information about the site URL or about the category it's currently listed in, it's hard to say anything <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />
Guest qh7 Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Thanks: The site url is www.parstimes.com and catagory is www.dmoz.org/Regional/Middle_East/Iran/Guides_and_Directories/ Now, I am the maintainer of the history of Iran Index for virtual library. The site is also hosted here: http://www.parstimes.com/history/VL/middle_east/iran.html I maintain the above page too but this has nothing to do with the rest of the site. I would like to submit it here: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Middle_East/Iran/Society_and_Culture/History/ I think that the visitors would benefit from the history index if it's listed in the above catagory. I just check because of your rules & policy about additional listings. Although I have seen several commercial sites with more than one listing.
motsa Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Please stop creating new threads to discuss parstimes.com. Pick any of the 5 threads you created previously and ask whatever it is you need to ask there -- I'd reread the replies you were given, though, because you were already told that deeplinks of parstimes.com won't be listed. Old threads include: www.parstimes.com Copying Second ODP listing Need assistance from META or EDITALL Topical listing (Main URL or Deeplink)
Guest qh7 Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I really don't know what you mean about finding old threads. Although I realize that I should have posted this message in the site submission catagory. The guidelines here state that this forum is "This forum is here to provide an additional, unofficial channel of communications between the general public..."> I have only followed the rules. If the ODP staff decides I would stop posting here. I have only been logical and polite. I only expect to be treated the same.
lachenm Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 No one has asked you to stop posting. However, being polite includes following the forum guidelines (see the top post in this forum): "If you're coming back to get an update on the status of your site DO NOT start a new thread. Reuse the original thread you started. It would probably help if you bookmarked the thread the first time around." It is a courtesy to editors to keep discussions about the same site in the same thread, so that they can easily see what has already been said (you can bookmark the original thread, or you can use the forum search function to search on your username to find the old threads). As a bonus, it can also help you remember what has been said, so you may not have to ask the same question twice (or more). In this case, as motsa said, you have already been told that deeplinks will not be listed.
motsa Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 We ask that people reuse their original thread when they come back to ask addition questions about their site. You've created 7 threads so far having to do with parstimes.com. Please confine further discussion of this site to one of the 5 previous threads I noted in my previous post -- the "Second Listing" one in particular seems appropriate. Thanks.
giz Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 >> I really don't know what you mean about finding old threads. << It means that you should bookmark the thread that you originally started, and then add new comments to that, rather than keep starting new topics. An old thread will automatically be moved to the top of the list if a new message is added to the end of it. [slow typing: Well, glad we are all agreed on that one then]
