mostly cloudy Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Do other people click their DMOZ bookmark then when the page has loaded immediately start typing a search and hit enter only for nothing to happen, and then realise that they had to click the search box in order to use it and the webpage didnt automatically put the curser in there when the page loaded? I cant get out of the habit, I blame google for it. With there not being any other forms on the page, wouldnt it make sense to have the curser automatically in the search box? It wouldnt make any difference to people who use the drill down navigation, but would make life easier(very very slightly ) for those that used the search.
Editall/Catmv lmocr Posted September 8, 2006 Editall/Catmv Posted September 8, 2006 Personally, I don't like sites that make me start in a particular box. I have a page partially load, click in the box I want and start typing - only to find that the web page has moved my cursor to the box that "they" want it in. Then I have to start all over again. Totally annoying. I think everyone else should change to be like our front page.
mostly cloudy Posted September 9, 2006 Author Posted September 9, 2006 In one respect I agree with you lmocr, whenever there is more than one form field on a webpage, having the curser placed in one automatically can be annoying because it ight not be the one you want, however, that isnt really relevant on a webpage that only has a single form field.
chaos127 Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 But if the page did that, what would happen if I tried to use "find as you type" in firefox in order to jump to one of the links without having to reach for my mouse...?
