mehul Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hello everybody, Recently my ODP Editor application was rejected for possible following reasons: Incomplete application - (In fact, Application was complete) Improper spelling and grammar. - (You are the best judge however, I tried my best to be accurate) Sample URLs are inappropriate for the category - (I applied for Regional-Asia-India-Gujarat-Ahmedabad and the three URLs were of 1) Regional Passport Office, Ahmedabad, 2) National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, 3) Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad) Not properly disclosing affiliations with websites that are, or have the potential of being, listed in the category. - (Again, you are the best Judge) Titles and descriptions of sample URLs (and other information provided) were subjective and promotional rather than unbiased and objective. - (All three URLs were Indian Government Undertaking Organisation) Self-Promotion. Application which leads us to believe that the candidate is interested primarily in promoting his/her own sites or those with which the applicant is affiliated. - (I am not being paid by Indian Govt. to promote their Websites!!) All I wanted, was to let Ahmedabad emerge on net enabling net users have minutest detail of city utilizing DMOZ!! To be honest, I also mentioned the site with whom I was affiliated couple of years ago. You can always watch me and if you find me promoting my own sites or those with which the I was/am affiliated, you may please remove me promptly. I am sure I won't give you chance. Last thing, I wonder if I can reapply. Would this help?? What's the suggested interval before reapplying? Thanks in advance for taking pain going through this feed back.
jimnoble Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 The email you received was a generic one which lists the most common reasons for declining an application. If it's not one of those, the evaluating meta will usually add some reviewer comments at the bottom. You can apply again whenever you wish. I have some recommendations. - Study the excellent advice in this FAQ and General Advice thread. - Critically examine your application against the email you received before you send it. I received your email, identical to your post above, but I'm answering it here. I do hope that you didn't email several metas.

mehul Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 I know the title might be bugging you and if it is so I am sorry. However, I am eager to know the status of my application. If, for some reasons my application gets rejected, can I reapply or do I need to wait for some specific period? Here are the details: Date of Application : October 06, 2006 User Name : mehul Category : http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Georgia/Localities/S/Savannah/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/Hotels_and_Motels I won't really push you to answer this. Hopefully my application gets selected. I had also applied for Chefmoz.org. Where can I check my application status for the same? Thanks.

motsa Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 If you read the announcement, you'll see that everything isn't working as usual. Specifically, editor applications are not working and we are still not able to check on the status of previous applications. Please keep an eye on that announcement thread -- we'll announce there when the editor application process is fully functioning again.
mehul Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 Do I need to reapply? I have read a reply where Jim have answered Stama to reapply. Is it same in my case? Thanks, Mehul
