Dmoz haters!

I'm sure you are all aware that there are people on various forums slagging Dmoz off left right and centre, why do they do it? Mainly beacuse they are not listed, I am not listed in Dmoz but I would never slag it off, I mean it's free how can you knock something what is free, even though I am not listed in Dmoz there are many sites that link to me that are, so indirectly Dmoz sorts me out, I'm sure it is the same with the Dmoz haters. Dmoz haters stop slagging it off and be patient.

I don't think it's those who have never been listed. It's more likely those who have lost their listings in DMOZ that are doing this. They can't make any headway with getting multiple listings or getting their listing placed where they want it instead of where the editor thinks it belongs, so they embarrass themselves in public.

I suspect it's because human editing is very unpredictable. Humans think, investigate, and judge, machines just do what they're programmed to do.

 

An automated process is very stable, and ways to beat the system can be figured out, as long as they know the rules of how it operates.

You'd be amazed how few of the most rabid haranguers AREN'T well-known within the community for being either vicious spammers, treacherous ex-editors, or both. Or maybe you wouldn't be amazed, I don't know.

 

But the correlation is so strong that I figure if I see someone obsessed with the ODP like that, and I CAN'T see his record of abuse, I figure the problem is in my research, not my assumption. And, you know, in the cases where someone else has looked into it also, THAT assumption has been right also.
