Guest king3788 Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Could someone check for me the status of my site: www.brinkssafes.com I submitted it on April 18 to this catagory: Business: Business Services: Security: Products and Equipment: Locks and Safes Thanks for any info. you can give me!
Meta kokopeli Posted May 23, 2003 Meta Posted May 23, 2003 First, http://www.brinkssafes.com appears to be a shopping site as opposed to a business site. Second, it is one of many subsites of http://www.vmisales.com/ and as such wouldn't be listable. I would consider http://www.vmisales.com to be your main site.
Guest king3788 Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Thanks for checking for me. I assume then that you are telling me it won't be listed in that catagory. Should I submit it to a shopping catagory instead? The reason I submitted it to the catagory that I did is that a couple years ago I submitted a similar web sit into that catagory with a partner that I had. A couple month ago we split and she has ownership of the web site. I am just trying to get listed again in the ODP with my own pages. The site that I had listed a couple years ago was not even a seperate domain name. The page listed is wwww.mastersalesonline.com/brinks Any advise you can give me as to what I should do to be listed would be greatly appreciated.
motsa Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 >>I assume then that you are telling me it won't be listed in that catagory. Should I submit it to a shopping catagory instead? What she's telling you is that http://www.brinkssafes.com won't be listed, period, but that http://www.vmisales.com/ could be (under a broader category in Shopping).
Guest Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 I assume then that you are telling me it won't be listed in that catagory. No. It won't be listed anywhere because it's a sub-site of http://www.vmisales.com/ . From a DMOZ point of view all your different URLs (universalheaters.com, outdoorfireplaces.com, brinkssafes.com, vmisales.com etc.) are considered to be ONE site, not different ones. You should therefore only submit http://www.vmisales.com to the most appropriate category in Shopping. <added> Motsa was faster, but only because her cat walks over the keyboard faster than I can type. <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" /> </added>
Meta kokopeli Posted May 23, 2003 Meta Posted May 23, 2003 I know that you have been submitting deeplinks of http://www.vmisales.com to various categories in addition to the subsites mentioned--as I have run into them in other places. I do not, however, remember where I saw those sites. The deeplinks of http://www.vmisales.com won't be listed either, just the root url. I may have seen it in a business category or a shopping category, I'm just not sure as I've been editing in various places in both trees lately but I recognized it when I check on your site. I would suggest submitting the main url to what you feel is the most appropriate placement. It does appear that there are prices and products sold to individual consumers in each area so it should be somewhere within the shopping tree. The key would be to find the category that envelopes most of what you do. <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />
