DMOZ

Hello

Last year I listed in the wrong category. I've requested on 3 occations to have my listing moved to either

Health: Alternative: Massage Therapy and Bodywork: Workplace Massage

or

Regional: North America: Canada: Ontario: Localities: T: Toronto: Health: Alternative: Massage Therapy and Bodywork

I just did a search for my site and noticed I'm no longer listed in

Regional: North America: Canada: Ontario: Localities: M: Mississauga: Health: Alternative

however when I did a search I came up with this

http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=massage+in+motion

Massage in Motion - Onsite Table & Chair Massage - Onsite Registered Massage Therapists specialized in workplace stress relief, corporate wellness programs, special events, golf tournaments, seminars, tradeshows and in-home massage.

-- <url removed> Regional: North America: Canada: Ontario: Localities: M: Mississauga: Health: Alternative (1)

If someone can tell me what I should do to submit my site relisted in the correct site.

thanks

Maria:)

When you see an inconsistency, check the "last updated" dates on (1) the category itself, and (2) the search results page. That will nearly always allow you to figure out which picture is trailing reality. Anything that's happened since the last time search was updated, isn't going to be reflected in the search results.

The ODP has mechanisms for making "suggestions" (don't think of them as "requests": I think using the right word helps you to think about the right concept.) They are: the "update listing" if a site still appears in a category, and the "suggest a site" if it doesn't.

If you've already suggested (this year) that the site be considered for addition to some particular category, then there's nothing constructive or helpful you can do.

We don't (and can't) guarantee what will happen: that's the editor's judgment based on the contents of the site itself, not the suggestion. And we don't (and can't) guarantee anything will happen by any particular date. And that's OK: in fact, that's a design feature: the cooperative-directory-building mechanisms work better without obtruding those kinds of arbitrary restrictions.

Is there any way I can get my site listed cause i already submitted the site since last year. Dou you think maybe a competitor is an editor at DMOZ? that's why it's not accepting my site

Since you've already suggested your website, there is nothing more you need do. Just one more listing suggestion wouldn't do any harm though.

Dou you think maybe a competitor is an editor at DMOZ?
All of the over 200 editors who can work in that category are competitors of yours? It's not very likely is it?

I don't understand the process.

The process is quite simple, and consists of two steps.

1. Suggest your site to the single best category. This first step applies to both new suggestions and to update suggestions. It appears that you have completed that step. Your work is now done and there is nothing else you can do other than continue to improve the unique content on your site.

2. At some point in the future an editor will consider your suggestion. It may be today, it may be a month from today, it could easily be two years from today, it might even be longer. We have no way of knowing and no method of predicting.

I hate to harp on the same subject.

I've been removed from

Regional: North America: Canada: Ontario: Localities: M: Mississauga: Health: Alternative

I want to be added to the following.

Regional: North America: Canada: Ontario: Localities: T: Toronto: Health: Alternative: Massage Therapy and Bodywork

and

Top: Health: Alternative: Massage Therapy and Bodywork: Workplace Massage

Can I be listed in these 2 categories?

I understand I need to be patient:cool: and just wait.

thanks

If your sites fits both categories it can be added in both one regional category and one topical category. You are allowed to suggest your site in both categories.

I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

Look at the bottom of the page. However, it doesn't seem to be working right now on directory pages (it works fine in search).

Hi

it states Last Visit: Edit

what does that mean

Plus I'm finally listed on Regional: North America: Canada: Ontario: Localities: T: Toronto: Health: Alternative: Massage Therapy and Bodywork

It says:

Last update: - edit

As hutcheson said:

So it means that the last update-date is not working right now. ;)
