Hi,

There is no resident editor in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Singapore/Business_and_Economy/Employment/

and below (Ok, there's one editor in one of the sub cat) and it's a little disorganized down there.

I have reported some in

http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?p=234651#post234651

Of course i'm hoping that while reviewing my reports, an editor will review my submission in one of the subcat there. :D

Just to repeat for emphasis: what you did was a help, no matter what your motives. And you deserve thanks.

Now, as to your ulterior motive -- not an evil one, but ulterior nonetheless: in fairness to you I should say that it's a low-percentage play. But it can't hurt, and a low-percentage play PLUS the base odds of editors being attracted there, has to be higher than the base odds alone.

This is one of those situations where I've tried to imagine some sort of "will help for food" deal -- where suggestions from people with a track record of being helpful can receive boosted visibility. (Of course, we couldn't guarantee a listing, or even a review within a set time. We don't have the social infrastructure for that, and we can't afford it. So the value of that visibility would be limited to whatever the gratitude of editors is worth. And that gratitude is not nothing, but it's probably thinly attenuated.) But even within those limitations, I haven't yet come up with any scheme that seemed viable.

Hi hutcheson,

I think I am fully aware of that, but I believe you are not writing that directed to me alone, but to avoid misinterpretation of general audiences, of what's going on. Am i right?:)

Anyway, the so called 'ulterior motive' is not really the primary motive. I actually am looking forward more to applying for editor (the availability of editor application system). I visit the cat quite often to check my submission and to check for the availability of editor application. It just doesn't feel right to see things misplaced, I just consider the review as a practice before I apply for editor. I believe I can show that in my editor application in the future as supporting facts of my ability to edit the category.

cheers!

I have thought of this in the past as well Hutch. Off hand I had an idea although I am not sure if it would work. Maybe you could set up a new forum cat and give privilege (password?) to some forum members that help out a bit and let them request something once per 30 days or something to that effect.

I wanted to point out my experience. I have spent a lot of time submitting bad links here in hopes that an editor would take a look at a submitted listing in the cat but, it has never worked.

Yet every other site I have submitted and not tried to help out has got in no problem… sometimes in a day or two.

I know it’s nothing more than bizarre coincidence but, its still funny. No love for my "good" deeds.
