Guest kevlam Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Hello, Submitted this URL: http://www.masadelante.com/en/ to this Category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/M/ It's a huge category, so it may take more time than others, but I was wondering if this submission has been nixed, as there is already a listing for the Spanish version of the site. I'm told that you can have a separate listing for sites in different languages...
Guest Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 I'm told that you can have a separate listing for sites in different languages... That's correct. I can not find a submission for this site waiting in that category, and it hasn't been reviewed (accepted, rejected, or moved elsewhere) by an editor yet. Either you gave us the wrong category, or your submission wasn't received. In the latter case you can re-submit, but please use the root URL since the the English version can easily be accessed from your main site. Thanks.
Guest kevlam Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Thanks for the reply. I will resubmit, but just to be sure here, by your advice then I will submit the link for our english site with the root URL of our site, which is in Spanish, and already listed in the 'equivalent' Spanish page...This is okay?
Guest Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Yes, please submit the root URL (with English title and description, of course <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" /> ). Your situation is similar to the example given here. The link from the root to the English site is obvious. BTW, I've noticed that the second link to the English pages is written in Spanish "¡masadelante en inglés!". I suppose you want people who speak English to click on that link, not Spanish ones. So why not writing that text in English? But this is just my personal opinion, the site design is completely up to you, and whether the second link is in Spanish or English will not influence the review of your site. Take it as a remark from a normal user, not from an ODP editor.
Meta hutcheson Posted May 27, 2003 Meta Posted May 27, 2003 Another thing that should be mentioned: If you submit a site to an English category, suggest an ENGLISH description (and a Spanish description for a World/Espanol category, etc.) If the editor sees a French description, and sees the site is already listed in World/Francais, then it's likely to be deleted -- already listed in the appropriate place. If the description is English, we'd know to look for English content.
