Guest Shimrod Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Greetings, I have been trying to have my site added to the following directory for some time: http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Financial_Planning/Debt_Consolidation/ the site was last submitted in February. I belive the problem is that our old site http://www.xoutdebt.com is listed there so this would appear as a "mirror". Can you please verify if this is the problem and advise on how to remedy the situation? Thank you in advance.
motsa Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Yes, they are mirrors. If the http://www.xoutdebt.com/ site is your "old" site, I would recommend that you set it to redirect to the "new" one and then submit an update request asking to have the URL changed to the new one. You definitely won't get both listed.
Guest Shimrod Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Well not completely, an ex-partner of the company runs the site so we no longer have control of it. We are the Debt Reduction Group, they are the Debt Settlement Group. What should I do? I can have them email whatever editor requesting a change.
motsa Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 I see now that they have different contact information but they have the same template (and thus the same information, word-for-word) as each other. Very difficult to distinguish between the two and I can't see us listing both sites. Are you telling me the current owner of xoutdebt.com would rather see your site listed than his?
Guest Shimrod Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Yeah, we used the same designer and completely understand your concern. Just for reference, KnockOutDebt.com is listed in both Yahoo! and LookSmart. XOutDebt.com is not. XOutDebt.com was submitted before the breakup, I am not sure what to do now. The controller of XOutDebt.com is not actively promoting their site, so I do not think it is a matter of "would rather see us in listed" - a listing is just not part of his business plan. Please advise.
