Links to ODP or to its mirrors?

I run several websites covering quite different themes. As keeping links up to date is quite a pain I usually have not created link lists myself but just created links to relevant ODP categories.

 

But ODP often is so slooooooooooow. And sometimes it doesn't work at all. Now I found that there also are mirrors. http://ch.dmoz.org/ seems not to be complete (Regional/, Science/, Computers/ and many other categories do not work) but http://de.dmoz.org/ , on the other hand, seems to be much better. And so fast.

 

So, if I change all my http://dmoz.org/Something/ links to http://de.dmoz.org/Something/ can I trust that they will work in the future? And can I be sure that the categories will stay up-to-date in mirros sites, too?

 

Or should I instead go on as before and link to http://dmoz.org/Something/ ?

The 2 mirror sites should be 24 to 48 hours behind the main site, and should reflect all changes there.

 

Occasionally due to problems at the ODP end and the hardware upgrades going on there may be a mismatch or a partial update on some occasions. This should straighten out as ODP access improves, and the more that people use the mirror sites the more that access will improve.

I imagine you won't experience any major problems linking to the mirrors, and considering the speed of the main site at the moment I don't blame you. <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Well, http://de.dmoz.org/ seems to be down already. Better to change the links back to dmoz.org?

I don't know what happened to the de. mirror - the ch. is still working - http://ch.dmoz.org/ (And it Is quite up to date, synchronisation seems to be running again)
