Pvgool – I want to ask isn’t DMOZ based on quality? I have explained the nature of sites are same that’s NEWS, but content is totally different. You mean that if a company has different products/websites, only one product/website will list in DMOZ(in same category). I think its not happening in the DMOZ. I have checked it.

 

Additionally – Volunteers should have interest the quality of the site, not should waste time either it's belong to one company etc. This looks totally unfair and wastage of time. Let consider if you have a company and have different quality sites and will you don’t expect to be listed in the DMOZ. If DMOZ still following this rule, so I will think that DMOZ loosing a number of quality sites, which should be listed in it and can be advantage to users.

 

We have different domains, with different content. More than two hundred journalist/editors/sub editors are working days nights for the News sites to providing the quality content to searchers/users.

I expect that your quality news sites that all belong in the same category link to each other - so the surfer wouldn't have a problem getting from site to site anyway.

You are very right Jim – They are linked to each others. And I respect your suggestion the surfer wouldn't have a problem getting from site. So, now what I have to do now? Should I have to forget that my site will include in the DMOZ in future? OR should I have to forget totally the DMOZ? (By keep in mind that surfer will find from my others sites).

 

I will leave it up to you anyway.

You should forget about more than one of your sites to be included.

As said before. For DMOZ these sites are related (onwership and subject) and DMOZ will only list one site out of set of related sites.

It is not our problem that you decided to spread the related content over more than one domain.

Pvgool – I respect your thoughts. I would also want to know what happen to those sites which I have submitted into different categories. We have another site related to Asian Celebrities and one other Hollywood celebrity site containing the news. Ten month passed, but didn’t to find it in Dmoz. Are they victims of the same problems, which currently our business news sites suffering. I submitted the others sites in most related categories, but find no results.

I again explain, the content is not related with each other. The site which is already listed is based on Technology News and we are taking the site which should be listed, that is focusing on the Business News. But both are based in Middle East. So in this case what is your opinion?

We've already pointed out that we'll only list one of a group of websites. If you have other unrelated websites or groups of websites, they'll be considered too.

 

The final arbiters of what is or is not related are the ODP editors and we will not discuss or argue the fine detail here.

The place to report listings that are no longer working is the Quality Control forum. I've corrected the gulf-news.com links that were 404.

Yes we can defend them.

There is a big difference between not being allowed to suggest related sites or deeplinks [done by non-editors] and listing deeplinks, related sites or more than one copy of a site [done by editors].

Editors are allowed to make such listings if they offer usefull content to our users. This will happen much more for informational categories (like the Archaeology cat you refered) than for commercial categories (like the news cat were you are trying to get your sites listed).

 

Ofcourse if links do not work anymore we would like to know and we will try to find a replacement or remove them if no replacement is available.
