In our preferences, there is an editor-name field: might automatic member->editor title conversions be based on a check of that field? To be honest, I don't really know what kind of checks you can do, but I'm assuming it has something to do with comparing against ODP data/pages.

According to my calculations, dmoz was down for almost 5 hours. Although being an Australian that meant it was somewhere between the hours of 2:30am onwards, so my recollection could be a bit sleep-affected. Don't ask why I felt an incessant need to do editing at 2:30am ... I just did <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
