kamash2006 Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I have submitted my site four times in two years and still never got listed. About a year ago I requested to be an editor on the same category that I submit my site and was told that there were enough editors on this category Arts: Music: Styles: R: Regional and Ethnic: African. I am still open to be an editor. I believe that I always follow site submission guidelines and I can’t get it why my site never gets listed.
jimnoble Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Listing suggestions are processed by volunteers and they work where, when and as much they wish within the bounds of their permissions. That's why we can't predict or control time scales. Your listing suggestion will wait until somebody decides to handle it. Assuming that it's listable, there's no need to re-suggest it. As to your application to become an editor, the complete sentence in the standard email is (my bolding) Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor, you have chosen a category that is already well represented, or is broader than we typically assign to a new editor.People sometimes don't notice the second clause which means that Arts/Music/Styles/R/Regional_and_Ethnic/African is rather large for a beginner.
kamash2006 Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 I am still open for any other africa region category you my need help in.
motsa Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 You will need to apply again, if you would like to try to become an editor.
kamash2006 Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 You will need to apply again, if you would like to try to become an editor. Can you suggest some categories that need some help instead of me submitting to a category and then get this feedback again "Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor, you have chosen a category that is already well represented, or is broader than we typically assign to a new editor".
motsa Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 It's really hard for us to suggest specific categories that (a) you might like to edit, (b) you could find 3 appropriate sites for, and © you could write an appropriate application for. In general terms, broad categories like guides or resources categories can be difficult to edit as can categories dealing with tourism, gambling, pharmaceuticals, or real estate. In terms of size, aim for a category with fewer than 100 listed sites. A category in Regional for a town or city you're familiar with is always a good place to start out.
