stevy Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Hello, I was wondering if I could ask a meta editor advice about my Dmoz application. I applied for a category, my username stevy1 (http://www.dmoz.org/Home/Consumer_Information/Appliances/). The letter I recieved back said "Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor, you have chosen a category that is already well represented" - it then said that I should reapply to a less represented category. I reapplied to a small category as stevy1 again (http://www.dmoz.org/Home/Consumer_Information/Appliances/Coffee/) but have been rejected because they said I didn't disclose all my affilates / websites. However I did disclose everything, being very open. I was careful to mention all my websites (four websites). I stated one was in Dmoz and that I had submitted one of my websites to the category I was interested in editing. I'm not sure what else I could do. Would you be kind enough to suggest what I could do? Many thanks for your help steve
chaos127 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 If the reviewing meta specifically gave that as the reason for rejection, they must have been pretty confident that you'd failed to mention one or more sites that they thought you should have. For a more detailed description of the URLs we're after, see the guidelines on affiliations disclosure. Perhaps you missed out some sites from the past, or there are sites you've helped design or promote (either commercially or as a hobby / favour), but don't actually own yourself? Do you have any personal / hobby / social networking profile pages anywhere that you didn't list? (Some people think we're only interested in sites that are related to the category to which you're applying, but the form asks for everything.) If in doubt, it's best to err on the side of inclusion and put it on the form. You can always add a note explaining why you're association with the site isn't that strong. If you're certain that you declared everything, then I guess your only option is to try again, adding a note about the previous rejection and explaining that you really don't have any connections at all to any other websites.
stevy Posted March 18, 2008 Author Posted March 18, 2008 thanks for replying I do have two domain names that I brought which I don't use. Maybe I should list those too? Apart from that there is nothing. I'll try and again with your suggestions thanks again for your help steve
