Guest s_dosch Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Hello, I know you are busy but I was just wondering on my submission of http://www.tweaknews.net. I submitted to the Computer/Hardware/Technical Evaluations and Product Reviews about 2 months ago. Did my submission get through? Thanks for your time and keep up the good work. Nathan Glentworth B.Sc. Owner www.Tweaknews.net
sabre23t Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 The clickable cat is http://dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Technical_Evaluations_and_Product_Reviews/ (as requested in forum guidelines). Site http://www.tweaknews.net/ is waiting patiently with about 10 dozens other sites in the unreviewed list of that cat. It appears you resubmitted on 11 May 03, please do not resubmit any more, else it will overwrite your old submission.
Guest s_dosch Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Great! At least it is in cue. Thanks a bunch and I will check in in a month. Thanks for the update.
Guest Tweaknews Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Category: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Technical_Evaluations_and_Product_Reviews/ Could I have the status of my submission of Tweaknews.net updated. I have need seen anything in 3 months. Thank you
pnm Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 I'm sorry to say that the area is very backlogged. The submission is still waiting for review.
Guest Tweaknews Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Any Idea when they will be clearing the backlog? Seems like others are getting posted within a month. Why is this category taking 6-8months?
Meta windharp Posted September 12, 2003 Meta Posted September 12, 2003 All editing is done by volunteers, so we can't give any estimates. If less people volunteer for a special area, less work is done there. Looks like there are more submissions than editors in that area. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest Tweaknewsdotnet Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Is there any improvement in this category? Been waiting patiently for 5 months now.
brmehlman Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 And it won't be answered unless you ask after 7:58 PM, Pacific Daylight Savings Time, on October 11.
Guest Tweaknewsdotnet Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 Sorry about that, I know about the month rule, but made a mistake reading the dates. Any update on Tweaknews.net?
sole Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 People are working in the area, but your site hasn't been reviewed yet.
Tweaker Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Category: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Technical_Evaluations_and_Product_Reviews/ Could I have the status of my submission of Tweaknews.net updated. I have need seen anything in 3 months. Thank you It has been over a year and I have yet to see Tweaknews.net submission posted yet. Can someone give me an update on the submission status. It has been over a year and a half. Can someone help?
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted September 30, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted September 30, 2004 I see no change in status. Sorry.
Tweaker Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I see no change in status. Sorry. No change in status in 1 1/2 years? Is there anyone working in that section?
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted October 1, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted October 1, 2004 I said I saw no change in your URL. I didn't check whether there was activity in that category. In fact, it looks as if a site was added Sunday.
Tweaker Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 I said I saw no change in your[/u"] URL. I didn't check whether there was activity in that category. In fact' date=' it looks as if a site was added Sunday.[/quote'] Then can you give me a reason why it has not been added in 1 1/2 years? I'm not being rude, I just want to know what the hold up is? It's not like my site http://www.tweaknews.net is a prank site or something. Looks like people in Chinese tourism companies get faster inclusion than a legit computer hardware review site.
TweaknewsAdmin Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Any update on the status of http://www.Tweaknews.net in the http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Technical_Evaluations_and_Product_Reviews/ section. I submitted the listing two years ago. Also, could someone move this thread to the computers submission section. It did not exist when I created this thread. Hehe, yes, it was that long ago.
bobrat Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 I don't mean to be rude but since you got an answer on September 30, 2004, 06:36 PM - you have to wait six months before asking again. Continued posting here really won't achieve anything - it won't get the site reviewed any faster - it will probably will get you annoyed with the whole ODP project since it does not serve your needs You might want to review the forum posting guidelines. It also would be good for you to read the FAQ page. You probably misunderstand the purpose of ODP. It is not a listing service, therefore there is no timeframe - a suggested site might be listed in one day, it might be listed in five years, some will never be listed as we don't want them since they fall outside the listing guidelines. Sites are not reviewed in order, and many sites that are added have never even been submitted. In the end, many webmasterswill find that even when listed, the presence of their site in ODP provides no significant benefits. Looks like people in Chinese tourism companies get faster inclusion than a legit computer hardware review site. That's a value judgement on your part - which is kind of self centred. Editors may not share that opinion.

There is no need for the arrogant and attitude soaked reply. I was not demanding anything from you or ODP. I was only joking when I stated the chinese tourism thing. My sincere apologies on posting before the 6 month timeframe. I got the dates mixed up. Again, I am really sorry about that. :o
