Guest Acid_Paul Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 submitted to http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Loans/Payday_Advance_Services/ almost one calender month ago. Thanks!
Guest jlangowski Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Your site was rejected because it's an affiliate of "QuickPayday". The ODP doesn't list affiliates.
Guest Acid_Paul Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Thanks jlangowski, but this is strange. We are not affiliated with any other payday loan companies, but Yahoo! also put us in the quik payday/affiliates category and I have tried contacting them regarding this. If you check the who-is records for quickpayday and ourselves, you will see that we are not in any way affiliated. Please help with this as we are suffering a loss of business do to someone else's mistake at Yahoo! Thanks in Advance!
Meta windharp Posted June 9, 2003 Meta Posted June 9, 2003 "Affiliated" does not mean "same whois information". It means to us, that the content a site offers it not unique and can be found somewhere else. Regarding to our guidelines, a site without a sufficient amount of unique content is not worth a listing. Guest Acid_Paul Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 thank you windharp. Does this also mean that Yahoo! also feels that our content is not unique enough to deserve a listing along with other cash advance companies? This is really hurting our traffic and I would like to do whatever is neccesary to resolve this. Also, I can assume that it is a coincedence that Yahoo! has listed us as an affiliate of quikpayday along with DMOZ?
Meta windharp Posted June 9, 2003 Meta Posted June 9, 2003 I don't know. Ask Yahoo. We are not Yahoo and they are not ODP. So we don't know why they are doing whatever they are doing. The above is only alid for the ODP. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Meta hutcheson Posted June 9, 2003 Meta Posted June 9, 2003 >Also, I can assume that it is a coincedence that Yahoo! has listed us as an affiliate of quikpayday along with DMOZ? You _can_. I wouldn't. I would _recommend_ treating the ODP listing decision as if it were final.
Guest Acid_Paul Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Thanks for all the help. I know that the two issues are unrelated, but you all know how important it is to be listed in the proper categories. I'll keep adding more content, and hopefully DMOZ will accept our site. There are other sites in the same category that have much less content, so any suggestions on modifications to the site would be appreciated. Thanks again for all the help.
Guest Acid_Paul Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Please take a look at the first site in the http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Loans/Payday_Advance_Services/ category, http://www.a1prembudg.com. This site redirects to another and is keyword spamming. How did their site get included? Could I do the same?
brmehlman Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 This forum is here to request and receive information about the status of your submission, not for discussion of the merits of other sites.
Meta hutcheson Posted June 9, 2003 Meta Posted June 9, 2003 You can do whatever you want to with your own website, just like we can with ours. Of course, if you did that with your site, and if you accidentally got included on our site, what do you suppose would happen when someone complained to us? Hint: try it and see.
Regency Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Its been a few months since I have checked on the status of our inclusion. Could you please update me on our current status? We have added additional content for our visitors. I hope that this satisfies all requirements to be listed in the ODP. Thanks!
uzs980 Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Your submission of June is still waiting for review. I haven't reviewed your site, but I hope you understand what my fellow editors said: This is a category for Payday Advance Services, and only companies offering these services should be listed - not sites leading to those companies, not sites informing about how it works. There is a category for informational sites about personal loans: Home: Personal Finance: Money Management: Loans: Personal. But commercial sites won't be accepted there.
Regency Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 uzs980 , thank you very much for looking into this. We are a payday advance serice, proving payday loans, but there are so many different names for the same service. Some call it a cash advance, others a payday advance, and others still, a payday loan. They are all the same exact service being provided, its just that in different states people call it different things for legal reasons. Thanks again for looking into this! We'll wait patiently
Regency Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Good afternoon! I wanted to check in with the editors to see if we have been scheduled for a review for inclusion. Any news is good news! Thanks!
Regency Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 Good Afternoon, mods. Just wanted to see if there were any updates on our status. Any good news? Thanks!
Regency Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Just checking in, don't even know why I still come here. It would be nice if someone would just let me know if I should stop inquiring about our submission of over 8 months ago. Our site offers relevant content and would be the only one hour service listed in our anticipated category. Please, someone, anyone, just let me know. Thanks!
Meta windharp Posted March 15, 2004 Meta Posted March 15, 2004 Sorry for not answering - sometimes threads slip through due to the high amount of postings in here. If you keep asking is up to you - I for myself don't know why people with good websites waste their time coming here again and again. Good sites will be processed eventually, regardless of any enquiries. Status: No change yet. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Regency Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 Monthly Check Up - SLCash.com Just checking in to see if there is any news about our pending review. Thanks!
Regency Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Well, it has been 6 moths, so I guess I am now allowed to again request information on my submission. The site's domain has changed to: http://www.cash-in-1-hour.com ] and was submitted originally into http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Loans/Payday_Advance_Services Just a note: Our site is the only payday advance service that can wire a customer money in less than one hour. I believe that this makes us worthy of inclusion. Thank You.
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted October 25, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted October 25, 2004 No change, I'm afraid.
Meta hutcheson Posted October 25, 2004 Meta Posted October 25, 2004 >I wanted to check in with the editors to see if we have been scheduled for a review for inclusion. No. We don't ever do schedules. (And I wish I could track down whoever started the rumor that we do...and kill them slowly.) If we wanted micromanagement we could just work at McDonald's. We have lots of volunteers that just ... review or not review. That's all.
