O.D Scripting

Background Info;

I work in a school environment (K-12) and we have over 800 computers, most of which are PC's. We run Active Directoy w/ group policies and this combination works well for the district.

 

Quandry;

I was just recently informed that by the start of the new school year, I need to bring into the fold, our mac machines used in the cad labs and our broadcasting labs.

 

So Far;

We have ordered a new Mac OSX server to host O.D and be the DirHost master for the students who MUST have thier "Z" drive accessible on both platformsAssuming I can get these computers upgraded to Tiger or Panther, I have a template we plan to follow to get our Macs to behave more like the AD computers are made to behave.

 

Issues: I know AD and VB Scripting. I know nothing of OD except from what I can gather to read on the internet. I need to "learn" another scripting language, but I cannot seem to pinpoint one specific language I can use in OD. I'd like that language to be as close to vbscript as possible to avoid an even larger learning curve.

 

Question;

Can someone help guide this newbie in the realm of a scripting language I could use for OD? And any other issues I might be running into?

You're thinking of Apple's Open Directory service. This forum is for the Web site directory DMOZ or the Open Directory Project. We have nothing to do with Apple's product. Sorry.
