Allwin Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 we have submited our website <url removed> to ODP for several times since 2005 in the category http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Construction_and_Maintenance/Materials_and_Supplies/Masonry_and_Stone/Natural_Stone/, but why our website can't be listed? We think our website can meet the Editing Guidelines, who can tell me why our webiste can't be listed? How can we do? Thanks a lot!
Meta windharp Posted June 23, 2008 Meta Posted June 23, 2008 Reviewing sites is a service we don't offer in this forum. We review sites suggested to the ODP using the onsite URL suggestion feature only. Most likely, your site just hasn't been processed by one of our volunteers yet. You might want to have a look at FAQ: How long until my site will be reviewed?. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
web-architekt Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 If its any consolation we have been trying to get our website listed in the directory for months, apparently it takes a long time, several months even as there are an enormous amount of suggested sites on a daily basis submitted for listing, so we understand. all i can suggest is keep trying.
Meta pvgool Posted June 24, 2008 Meta Posted June 24, 2008 If its any consolation we have been trying to get our website listed in the directory for months, apparently it takes a long time, several months even as there are an enormous amount of suggested sites on a daily basis submitted for listing, so we understand. all i can suggest is keep trying. All I can suggest. Don't keep trying. As our guidelines specified: suggest a site ONCE If you keep suggesting your site you only make the chance of your site being reviewed smaller. You overwrite the previous suggestion. If an editor sorts suggested sites by date your site will be at the bottom of the list, over and over again. If you suggest your site to different categories you might end as being marked as a spammer, which could lead to a ban for you and all your sites. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
Meta hutcheson Posted June 24, 2008 Meta Posted June 24, 2008 The problem isn't the number of sites suggested. The problem is the number of worthless sites that obtrude themselves in front of the listable sites. (It doesn't matter how you look for sites: whether in Google or in link lists or in the site suggestion pool--the worthless ones are obtrusive everywhere.
Allwin Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 thanks for the above answers. Since i have suggested my site to DMOZ for more than 2 years, but it's not listed now. So i have suggested for several times, and hope anyone can tell me the problem of my site.:o
spectregunner Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 So i have suggested for several times, and hope anyone can tell me the problem of my site. We do not offer that service here.
textlink969 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 so you may just make certain changes that every one can get their site in minimum time, why you all are not working in this field
Meta pvgool Posted July 9, 2008 Meta Posted July 9, 2008 so you may just make certain changes that every one can get their site in minimum time, why you all are not working in this field Because getting in everyones site isn't what DMOZ is about. We only list sites that fit our guidelines. And to be honest most sites out there don't fit. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
