ppp Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Not a thing has been added to the portugal sector for years now i applied to become an editor and was told that there was no call for editors in that section but its clearly not the case or is there an editor with an agenda. Paul
Meta pvgool Posted July 26, 2008 Meta Posted July 26, 2008 I think you got an email with several of the standard issues we encounter in editor applications. And from your post I het the impression that you didn't read the whole sentence. It is something like "This category is already well represented OR is to big for a new editor" (I don't know the exact text). Important is the OR. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
jimnoble Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 I don't know the exact text I do. The standard text in this situation is Thank you for your interest in becoming an Open Directory Project editor! Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor, you have chosen a category that is already well represented, or is broader than we typically assign to a new editor. We would encourage you to re-apply for a category that has fewer editors or is smaller in scope, in order to increase your chances of being accepted. Feel free to reapply by submitting an application in another area. If you wish to re-apply, you must fill out another application. Please do not reply to this email. I usually add to that by suggesting applying for a smaller category of up to around 100 listings. The application form itself says Your chances of becoming an editor are greater if you apply for a small, underdeveloped category to start (generally categories with less than 100 sites). but many people are in too much of a hurry to read it . Not a thing has been added to the portugal sector for years now If you meant Regional/Europe/Portugal, my £10 says that it has .
ppp Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 If it has been added to it's not by much and that is the category I applied for http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Portugal/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ and my €15 says it hasn't I'm pretty sure rustic portugal was there when I first looked. ppp I do. Meta nea Posted September 30, 2008 Meta Posted September 30, 2008 Have you read the category description for Regional/Europe/Portugal/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate? Most real estate sites in Portugal would not be eligible for a listing in that category. Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea

Most real estate sites in Portugal would not be eligible for a listing in that category. Ok now im confused as to what to do I am trying to create a portal and build a chain of shops so maybe that is why I have been rejected but do i have to start again and wait or will someone check my application again and see that i am expanding.
jimnoble Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 do i have to start again and wait or will someone check my application again and see that i am expanding. If you are asking about your editor application, start again. If you are asking about a suggested website, there's no need to do anything but, if it makes you happier, by all means suggest it once more after say six months - just to be sure that it hasn't fallen down a crack.
