I applied for an editor since I think I know quite a lot about the field I am in, however my application was rejected, my only guess is that I rushed the application, and didn't put as much thought into it as I'd like. I will of course reapply again.

I have 2 websites in 2 entirely different subjects, I've submitted them both within the last week.

It's still early days, so I don't expect them to show up now, however I'm curious as to whether I will be given a reason for disaproval (if any), and also if it I'd be notified if it gets rejected to approved.

I'm confident they'll show because the quality and usefulness of my site is equal or greater than some of the sites already listed in their categories.

Thank you.

NO, the ODP editors do not do notifications as the posting guidelines do an excellent job of defining what can or cannot be listed.

In addition, the vast majority of sites that are not listable cannot be fixed to be made listable.

Hello TigerUK, and thank you for wishing to volunteer with us. :)

Your application needs to show that you will be an honest and careful editor, so it is certainly worth taking some time over it. You will have received an email from a volunteer meta-editor or catmod explaining exactly why your application was rejected, so it would also be a very good idea to re-read that message carefully and attend to all the points raised there.

Good luck!

FAQ about becoming a volunteer ODP editor.

I edit for the ODP and support those guidelines at all times, but my opinions are my own.
