MikeDavidson Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Hi there I am Mike. I heard about dmoz a lot. So I thought to submit my website but I didn't find the "suggest url" button in the category where I wanted to submit. Can you guys help me? I apologies if I made the post in the wrong forums. Thanks Mike
Meta nea Posted September 9, 2008 Meta Posted September 9, 2008 If there is no "suggest URL" link in a category it means that that particular category is closed for site suggestions. In many cases this is because all links in the category are sorted into subcategories, for instance alphabetically; in some cases it is because the category is a collection of links to categories in other parts of the directories. While we ask that you don't post the URL of your site (because we don't discuss specific sites in this forum any longer), it's fine if you want to post the category you are wondering about, just to make it easier to discuss. :moz: Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
MikeDavidson Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Thanks for your reply. Actually I have a music recording studio website. And I wanted to submit in "Music" Category coz I did not find category "Music Studio" which is more relevant. Btw how can one become an editor of Dmoz? Mike
chaos127 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Maybe you're looking for http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Music/Production/Recording_Studios/ (Don't forget to read the category description though.) Also, your studio presumably has a physical location, so you can also suggest the site somewhere under http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/ -- drill down through the geographic categoeies until you find the town/city in which you're located. Then go as far as you can through the topical sub-categories: Business_and_Economy -> Entertainment_and_Media -> Music. Don't worry if you can't get that far with the topics, just suggest to the most specific category that exists. If you're interested in becomeing an editor, have a read of http://www.dmoz.org/about.html and http://www.dmoz.org/help/become.html
MikeDavidson Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Thanks for detailed info. chaos127. I'll give a try to become an editor of this largest WD. I may need your help for this. Hope you all will be there Thanks once again Mike
