waterh20 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Hello, My site has been removed from the dmoz listing. Whom can i talk to find out if this was malicious or accidental as there is no reason for us to be removed without any reason. Thanks
Editall/Catmv makrhod Posted January 4, 2009 Editall/Catmv Posted January 4, 2009 To quote a recent answer to this question: There are a number of legitimate reasons why a site that was listed is no longer listed, including: (1) It was originally listed by mistake and that mistake was discovered and corrected. (2) It was listable when it was first listed but no longer meets the requirements for listing and so was removed. (3) It was listed in the wrong category originally and was moved to the right category for rereview. (4) It was unavailable when an editor reviewed it or triggered an error when one of our automatic link checkers checked it and so it was unreviewed temporarily. If it was 3 or 4, then an editor will eventually rereview it. FAQ about becoming a volunteer ODP editor. I edit for the ODP and support those guidelines at all times, but my opinions are my own.
waterh20 Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 I feel like it was none of those to be honest as far as I can tell. So who deals with complains that none of those 4 criteria meets. The category description hasn't changed and it does still meet the requirements. There are numerous other sites in the same category that fall way short (to be removed / relocated) well before ours should've been removed. thanks
Editall/Catmv makrhod Posted January 4, 2009 Editall/Catmv Posted January 4, 2009 No site is guaranteed a permanent listing in the directory, and volunteer editors might move or remove a site for a number of reasons, as explained above. However, if you have specific information to indicate editorial abuse, please report it through the official channel, but note that merely disagreeing with an editor's actions is not proof of abuse. waterh20 Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Thanks for your help, I have submitted through that route already but wanted to know if there was any other ways to get more information on the matter at hand as I feel it is a mistake possibly or malicious.
Meta pvgool Posted January 4, 2009 Meta Posted January 4, 2009 To make things clear. You will not get any information through the abuse system. The report will be investigated but the outcome will, for privacy reasons, not be communicated to the person reporting the abuse. If the site was removed for a wrong reason it will be relisted. If it was removed for a good reason it won't be relisted. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

No. If you provided all the information you had (including the URL and category), you can be absolutely certain that if it was a mistake or malicious it will be rectified. Almost no "abuse" reports about removed listings actually uncover abuse, though. There are many reasons why a site is temporarily or permanently removed from public view.
