Question about categories with no editor?

Hi everyone,

 

I submitted my site to a small category months ago. I have a very well constructed and very informative website complete with an indepth glossary on signage.

 

I realised the category has no editor, so I applied as I am most interested in that subject and thought I could actually do some good.

I am an expert on the subject and contribute to forums regularly, but was declined for reasons of conflict of interest.

 

I was a little surprised by this but that's OK, I can see DMOZ's point, but if DMOZ doesn't want an expert on the subject then who, an amateur?

What I'd like to know is if a category has no editor, who looks after it?

I'd like to think that an expert reviewer would.

 

I'd like to become an editor but on what subject do I select, a subject where I have no expert experience?

 

My site still has yet to be listed.

I am an expert on the subject

Although knowledge of a particular subject can be helpful, it is not necessarily a requirement for becoming an editor. The ability to edit to guidelines is far more relevant.

That is an unlikely reason for being declined as long as you were truthful on your application. It appears that you were given specific comments from the reviewing editor. Did you scroll down and read them?

Yes, I was extremely truthful. I disclosed my website, my contribution to it, my business, everything I could think of.

 

My experience of thirty plus years. My families experience in the industry for over sixty years.

 

I suggested 3 websites I thought should be included, wrote meaningful descriptions.

 

I was a little surprised to be declined actually.

Of course (unless you were told otherwise) there's nothing to stop you submitting another application. But it would be sensible to do you best to figure out the reason(s) why your previous application(s) was/were rejected first, and make sure you correct it in the next one. Otherwise, you'll just be wasting your time and the reviewer's time. ;-)

I've re-applied, filling out the form letter perfect and suggesting 3 good quality sites that fit into the category I have chosen (not my own, or anyone I know or have any interest in whatsoever).

 

I chose quality sites and gave appropriate descriptions

 

I'll wait and see...
