It would seem that although you were given an error, you did manage to confirm your application as it is awaiting review.

For our reference could you post a copy of the error messages that you are receiving and I'll pass them on to the right person.

Thanks :)

I am also receiving a similar message after replying to the confirmation email after submitting my application. I did not receive an email confirming that my application was in the system after receiving the error message. Would someone be able to check to see if my application went through correctly? I will post the error message below and hopefully that can help. Thank you for your help in advance.

Thanks,

Pete

After sending my email response to verify my application I got an error message:

:icon_arro

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----

<apply@dmoz.org>

(reason: 550 5.7.1 <apply@dmoz.org>... Relaying denied)

:icon_arro

which was sent from: Mail Delivery Subsystem <MAILER-DAEMON@aol.com>

Then I took the original email (requesting my reply to verify my application), pushed "reply", and before sending the email, I deleted all content (except for the message title).

I send a blank email - without having to make a new email address as I used the exact same address as I did when sending my first reply (but the message wasn't blank when I returned it).

I then got the verification mail from ODP. :)

So what you could do:

reply - delete all content - and send = success ;)

Could you post the key on the confirmation mail (starts with opendir) - it could help. Thanks.

Application Error

Hello, I recently applied to become an editor. As part of the process I received an email to 'reply to.' After replying to the automatically generated email from dmoz, I received this error message.

email just keeps getting bounced back to me, no matter what I try.

@willfleiss -- I've given your application a kick, and it's now waiting in the queue for an editor to review it.

I'll try to have a closer look at the error messages later, but it does seem that there's some sort of problem on one of the AOL servers. It that remains my best guess I'll make sure it gets reported to the right people.

From my own quick tests, it looks like an intermittent problem -- if you get a delivery failure message like the one above, try sending the message again. It's probably not anything to do with the address you're sending from or whether or not there's any text in the message body. My tests showed about a 50% success rate.

If your reply is successfully prossed, you should get the "Open Directory editor application received" email in a matter of minutes.

(If you get a "Can't find authentication ticket" email, then the most likely cause is that you already made a successful reply. That reply ate the ticket up, and hence it can no longer be found.)

Do you think you could "bump" my application? Here's the ID number they sent me:
