RZ Admin Elper Posted March 14, 2010 RZ Admin Posted March 14, 2010 Hi pdmhfx, the simplest thing you can do is resend the confirmation until you get any response other than "Relaying denied" :o elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
bladelink Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Application confirmation email bounces back There's another thread on this topic, and I apologize for opening a new one, but my efforts to reply to the current thread have proven fruitless. I applied to be an editor, got the email requesting that I "reply" to confirm my email address, and I get the error message below. Any suggestions for next steps would be appreciated! *** ATTENTION *** Your e-mail is being returned to you because there was a problem with itsdelivery. jaela Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 when replying you have to take the RE: off the front or you will receive an error message about the email being undeliverable ....take that off and resend and you should have no issue after that ....hope it helps ...jaela
RZ Admin Elper Posted March 17, 2010 RZ Admin Posted March 17, 2010 In all the testing I've done, the RE or FW etc. hasn't been an issue - it's just that the mail bounces a random number of times, from 1 to 30ish - just resend the mail one instance at a time, receive the "Relaying denied", resend - until you get either a success message or "can't find your ticket" - both of these indicate it worked. elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.

RZ Admin Elper Posted May 2, 2010 RZ Admin Posted May 2, 2010 It's been nearly a month since the last "Relaying Denied" error was reported - I hope this means the issue has at last been resolved elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.

Surely, the ODP is not run on such a shoestring budget that they can not fix these fixable and irritating errors?

Remove the request read reciept and this particular error will go away.

amunosy Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Hello all, It seems this "user unknown issue" is here to stay... I've been trying over twenty times to confirm my editor registration request and it still gives me a <apply@dmoz.org>... User unknown (in reply to RCPT TO command) Subject line of my mail : opendir - http://www.dmoz.org/public/verifyemail?key=fe2573fb1216353b2728821b24efb310 Category I applied for : World: Français: Commerce et économie: Commerce international: Services Link to that category : http://www.dmoz.org/World/Fran%C3%A7ais/Commerce_et_%C3%A9conomie/Commerce_international/Services/ I'll keep trying to send the mail as suggested above, of course, but considering the number of attempts already I have doubts it will eventually work at all.... Just out of curiosity, I pasted the http link from the mail subject to a web browser.... and the page that showed said "your e-mail verification is complete" ! Then refreshed the page, just to be sure, and I then got a "not a valid key" page. Does that mean that a workaround to that e-mail verification issue could be a simple cut and paste into a browser ??? or that my little try mixed everything up ?? Could anyone help ? Thanks and regards, Anne
RZ Admin Elper Posted August 27, 2010 RZ Admin Posted August 27, 2010 Hard to believe, but this is a different problem to the earlier ones - you did the right thing copy/pasting, that appears to be the correct workaround, and your application is queued, awaiting review... "your e-mail verification is complete" means it worked and "not a valid key" means it won't work a second time...
