snappingpig Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 One of my sites <URL deleted>is listed here: http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Slots/ Last night a few of my sites got deleted from this category. I was wondering how much it would cost to re-list theses sites and prevent <URL deleted> from being removed like my others from last night. Thanks
Meta pvgool Posted August 22, 2009 Meta Posted August 22, 2009 Did you ever read the DMOZ guidelines? I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
snappingpig Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Yeah, I don't see what that has to do with my site, they were listed before so why are they being delisted for no reason?
Editall/Catmv makrhod Posted August 23, 2009 Editall/Catmv Posted August 23, 2009 pvgool was hoping you might have noticed the guidelines about the ODP being FREE, and the fact that anyone attempting to bribe editors risks having all their sites permanently banned. Any editor found to be requesting or accepting payment immediately loses their account permanently, although that is undoubtedly of less interest to webmasters than the effect on their own sites. And please don't claim you didn't really mean it. "Mentioning" bribes is like "joking" with customs officials and police. Seriously unwise and not in the least appreciated. snappingpig Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Where does it say this in the guidelines? I didn't see the part about having all my sites banned. Haven't you ever heard of: <URL deleted>
Editall/Catmv makrhod Posted August 23, 2009 Editall/Catmv Posted August 23, 2009 Of course, there are many misguided and misinformed people out there who try to buy their way into this FREE directory, and many of them are gullible enough to hand over their money to anyone who promises to make it happen, even when that is obviously impossible. There's nothing we can do to stop them behaving so foolishly, when they apparently ignore the vast number of warnings on all the webmaster and SEO forums about the consequences of offering to bribe editors. You must have missed all those warnings too, but at least now you know. FAQ about becoming a volunteer ODP editor. snappingpig Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 I don't understand why this would be considered a bribe. I've gotten sites like <URLs deleted AGAIN> both listed quicker by paying money. It's not a bribe but more of a way so an editor can review it quicker than waiting months. <URL Removed> was taken off and put back on and I don't appreciate my other sites being taken off for no reason and I DEMAND that they be put back on my listings...
snappingpig Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Would someone like to tell me why my many of my sites keep disappearing from the gambling categories in DMOZ? I'm starting to get a little ****ing ticked! I had to pay THOUSANDS of dollars to get these sites listed in there you know, it's none of your business to be deleting my sites out of here. This just proves how much DMOZ sucks and how corrupted the Metas are, with no regard for my high quality sites.
Editall/Catmv makrhod Posted August 23, 2009 Editall/Catmv Posted August 23, 2009 I had to pay THOUSANDS of dollars to get these sites listed in there you knowIf you paid this money to ODP editors, please provide their names using the Public Abuse form, as accepting money is completely against ODP policy and one of the worst forms of editorial abuse. However, if you paid this money to people who pretended to be editors, there's nothing we can do to help you, and your sites were listed without any input from them. As we keep reminding you, it never costs anything at all for a site to be listed in DMOZ, and those who resort to bribery deserve the consequences. FAQ about becoming a volunteer ODP editor. hotslot Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Wow, I just recently applied to be in this section http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Slots/ for URL REMOVED I have also applied to be a volunteer in this section. I only hope I can have the honor to have this position as I will try to keep angry people like this from ruining the entire reason why we have DMOZ and the benefits it brings to online category searches. Warm Regards Alan
Meta pvgool Posted April 1, 2010 Meta Posted April 1, 2010 In my opinion Gambling is not a good place to start for new editors. Much to much spam is received in those categories. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
