A general question.

Are Dmoz checking the activity of his editors?

For instance effectivity - % processed applications per month/week...

Do the editors active - not loged in since months....

I would say from my experience of vBulleting usage on which is this forum also based, it would be nice to push all editors register in this forum and one can keep eye on them as well lot of questions could be clarified with community and say asking for a suggestion about this or that application...

Yes, the system does, and removes inactive accounts. But it applies very low standards, since a barely active editor does not do any harm. "Every little helps". Apart from the automated checks, all editors have access to some basic statistics about all other editors for informational purposes. But as most data about our editors we consider that information non public, so most is not available for anyone else but editors.

one can keep eye on them

Uhh... I don't quite understand. If "one" is "dmoz", we do have internal forums and lots of additioonal tools, not only to monitor activity but much more. If "one" is the public, then thats not something we consider apropriate.

asking for a suggestion about this or that application

You can already ask about all ODP related matters here, there are lots of editors, including many senior ones, active in this forum. We chose not to answer questions about site suggestions though, see the FAQ for details. And I don't see why urging editors to spend their time in a public forum, unless they want to, should bring the directory any benefit.

Well, one can divide all the people in the world into two groups.

Group 1, is, of course, the people who genuinely care about the ODP goals, and are competent to judge the work of ODP editors.

Group 2, is, of course, the incompetent and/or indifferent and/or hostile. (In this context, it doesn't matter which they are, or whether they're all three simultaneously. Any of the three qualifications is enough to earn a place in this group.

So, just which group would the "eyekeepers" come from? Not EVER the second group, obviously.

And the first group ... ought to apply to be editors, and, once they've built a reputation for care (by doing lots of work) and competence (by doing consistently good work), they're welcome to exercise all the review they have time to do.

It may feel nice to be able to push people around, but it's not so nice to be pushed around by strangers.

So we aren't really into "pushing" and "shoving". We're looking for volunteers who WANT to work on the directory. If anyone don't want to visit this forum (or ANY external forum), that's great. Because the project is about building a directory, not a forum. This forum is visited by only a few of the editors, and that's fine.

Nobody is going to be ALLOWED to push editors to ANY forum. That would NOT be polite, it would NOT be nice, and it would NOT be constructive.
