pwillener Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 It has been a busy period, and it seems that I have not visited dmoz.org in more than four months; now my login has been inactivated. During the same period my email address has changed; the old address can no longer be used. I was directed to a Reinstatement Request form, which I filled in. After submitting I got this error message If you've changed e-mail addresses, please specify the original in the reason you wish to be reinstated. No matter what I enter into the form fields, I am getting the same message. There is a mailto link to 'staff' [staff-at-dmoz.org], but this address bounces as non-existent. How can I get my login reinstated?
jimnoble Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 That you've forgotten some of your login details or you no longer have access to your original email account are merely stumbling blocks, not show stoppers. Please contact me via http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/send.cgi?toeditor=jimnoble with as much corroborative information as you can such as:- Approximate date joined Real name Editor name (but not password) Original email address Joining category Additional categories gained Roughly how many edits done Approximate date of leaving and the circumstances (Despite server errors, messages generally get through OK. No need to send it 7 times ) Convince me that you are who you say you are and I can reset your email address of record to one that works today. This will make it possible for you to request a password reminder and complete a reinstatement request form.
pwillener Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Thank you for the reply. I have sent you the requested information, but received a proxy error. Please let me know if you have received the message.
pwillener Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks, message received The Reinstate Request form has now successfully been submitted.
pwillener Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 I have been deactivated again! I applied for reinstatement twice (a few months ago, and again at the beginning of this year). Nothing happened; no reply from anyone. I've sent an email to Jim Noble with the details he requested in 2009; no reply! Is there any way to get reinstated as an editor? I have been an editor since 1998, and I don't understand why it is so easy to get kicked off, and so difficult to get reinstated...
Meta pvgool Posted January 13, 2015 Meta Posted January 13, 2015 the last action was a reinstatement on 2014-03-10 you did login and edit once as a result you were deactivated again on 2014-07-09 I can find no requests for reinstament after that date not one that is processed nor one that is waiting editors are automatically deactivated when the do no edits in 120 days reinstament is always done by a meta editor as there is no request waiting you will have to make such a request again (sorry) let us know here when you have made the request I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
Meta pvgool Posted January 13, 2015 Meta Posted January 13, 2015 I've sent an email to Jim Noble with the details he requested in 2009; no reply! please read http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/t/jimnoble.52886/ I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
pwillener Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Thank you for the information on Jim Noble; I was unaware. I have sent another request for reinstatement; 3 times in fact, for every email address I ever had since 1994. P.S. I don't know why I don't receive email notifications from this forum when my thread is updated; that's why my delayed response to you. P.S. can you tell me what email address I am registered at the ODP now: ...@gol.com ? ...@gmail.com ? ...@cincom.com ?
Meta pvgool Posted January 25, 2015 Meta Posted January 25, 2015 it is the gol account I still see no request from you. I'll ask on the internal forum if one of our more technical meta's can look if there are some problems. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
plantrob Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I can look into it. Please visit http://pmoz.info/try/post.php5 and post back here when you've done that. It will help me see if there's anything about your browser configuration that is causing problems.
pwillener Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Thank you for helping. I went to http://pmoz.info/try/post.php5 - it shows a blank page to me; do I need to do anything more? Just F.Y.I.: Browser is Pale Moon 25.2.0 (x64) on Windows 7.
pwillener Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 P.S. one completely unrelated question: how do I get an avatar into my RZ profile? When I go to my account and click on the empty avatar I get This is not important, of course. I just didn't see a RZ forum concerning RZ questions.
Meta pvgool Posted January 27, 2015 Meta Posted January 27, 2015 only editors have permission to create an avatar on RZ I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
pwillener Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 That means as long as my editor login is deactivated, I cannot create an avatar? Well, hopefully this issue will soon be resolved...
plantrob Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Thank you for helping. I went to http://pmoz.info/try/post.php5 - it shows a blank page to me; do I need to do anything more? Just F.Y.I.: Browser is Pale Moon 25.2.0 (x64) on Windows 7. Got the info. Unfortunately, it didn't help cast any light on your issue. Please try requesting reinstatement one more time. Report back with the exact time you submitted the form, as well as the URL of the page you see when you have submitted the form and any message on the page.
pwillener Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 I have sent the reinstatement request again, this time from Firefox 35.0.1. After clicking the 'Send Request' button, the screen looked different from previous attempts: - previously it always went back to the reinstatement form; - this time it went to a 'Reinstate Application Received' panel; URL https://www.dmoz.org/public/reinstate Maybe the issue is solved now? Thanks to both of you for your help!
plantrob Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Reinstatement request received and processed. Not sure why the browser would matter. If you see any further irregularities, please report them at the editor forum.
pwillener Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Thank you very much: I was able to successfully login at http://www.dmoz.org/editors/ But here at the RZ forum I am still a 'Member'.
RZ Admin Elper Posted January 29, 2015 RZ Admin Posted January 29, 2015 But here at the RZ forum I am still a 'Member'. That's resolved too!
