Just because a category does not have an editor does not mean its not being worked on. There are many editors above that level, including myself that work on the whole designers area regularly. I can't give you an estimate when your site will be reviewed.

If your site has a proper title and description it is MUCH more likely to get listed before the others with spammy or otherwise unusable titles and descriptions.

kctipton, Thanks for your input. I understand that many people may have problems when they submit their listings due to poor or superlative content in their titles and descriptions. But that isn't the issue as I am understanding it from MorseRj. It seems there is a very large back log of sites to review and not enough editors to go around.

What he was saying was that submitting your site with a good, guidelines-compliant title and description, you make it more likely that the editor attempting to review some of the waiting sites will gravitate towards your site first because there will be work involved in reviewing your site.

But is it an implication that there is a problem with my current title and description? It's been 4 months, but I'm fairly certain we used the title which is the name of our company: "Metal Software, Inc." and an appropriate description. Do you think that because our company name is "Metal Software, Inc." that the editors think we are a software company dealing with metal products (not the case), take a look at our site: www.metalsoftware.com

No, there was no implication about your specific current submittal. The editing side of dmoz.org is down right now (probably for about a week), and so all you're going to get is generic responses for questions that don't require access to the unreviewed queues.

That was such a question, and it is a unique characteristic of the ODP that submitters frequently don't understand. (Other directories either charge for quick review, or simply don't have large numbers of submittals.)

The ODP development is solely driven by what people are sufficiently interested in to work on. If you're working, you get to choose what you're working on. If you're not working, you get to choose what you don't work on. That's all. You can't preempt anyone else's choice.

I must have been lucky as I managed to get a look at the unreviewed queue. Your site was submitted 26 April so it's not yet 2 months and it is still waiting along with a relatively high number of others. I don't think the title or description submitted are anything to be concerned about from what I can see.

Please leave it at least a month before asking for a further update. Thanks for the enquiry.

Your submission of April 25th is still waiting for review in Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Real Estate within a heap of nearly 200 other sites.

You may also submit your site to the appropriate Regional category. That would probably be Regional: North America: United States: Florida: Localities: P: Pensacola: Business and Economy: Internet. Your site may be listed in both categories.

Yours,

Robert

Hi,

I know this is frustrating for you, however your site is still waiting with about 200 unreviewed ones in that category.

There are currently five editors working in the Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development category dealing with an enormous backlog of submissions. Your site will be reviewed at some point in the future. I would suggest checking back in a couple of months.
