I found this thread while searching for a way to reinstate my own account. I too was deactivated due to inactivity, but it has been 5+ years since I as last able to log in, (long, drawn out, messy divorce...) and I no longer have access to the email account I was registered under. When I try to reinstate, I can't remember my password, though my user account, euriphides, is still on record. When I attempt to get a password reminder, it sends to that old email account that I no longer have access to. I would be happy to provide every email address I can think of that I've had over the past 10 years, as well as my address, phone numbers, social security number, etc... any kind of identifying information, to get my account reactivated.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Whilst we usually welcome returning ex editors, we are insistent that they come back under their original identities. That you've forgotten some of your login details or you no longer have access to your original email account are merely stumbling blocks, not show stoppers.

Please contact me via http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/send.cgi?toeditor=jimnoble with as much corroborative information as you can such as:-

Approximate date joined

Editor name (but not password)

Real name

Original email address

Joining category

Additional categories gained

Roughly how many edits done

Approximate date of leaving and the circumstances

Convince me that you are who you say you are and I can reset your email address of record to one that works today. This will make it possible for you to request a password reminder and complete a reinstatement request form.

Similar problem...

As an expert in uterine fibroids. I applied to be an editor years ago for Health: Women's Health: Conditions and Diseases: Uterus: Fibroids, but never received a response, so never acted as editor. I may have used my current address. My previous (and now inactive) email was pindman@ix.netcom.com.

In looking at the current listings I saw many that were outdated, and there are some excellent sites not listed, so I applied again to edit that category, and received a notice to apply to be reinstated. I requested a password reset, but never received an email.

I would appreciate your assistance.

Thanks.

P.S. I tried to send an email to Jim to the link above, but got a "Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

The proxy server could not handle the request POST /cgi-bin/send2.cgi.

Reason: Error reading from remote server" error, so doubt it went through.

That is a known error. Despite the error the email will have reached him.

That will have been send to the email address as it is listed on your DMOZ profile.

I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
