Guest Posted June 29, 2002 Posted June 29, 2002 Hello, I have finished making the website webhostnext.com and am ready to submit it to DMOZ but would like you to have a look at it. The only thing that i am concerned about is the domain registration link which takes it another website. This is not an affiliate link but another partner website that provides domain registration solutions as i cater for only web hosting solutions. So is it against the law?
Meta theseeker Posted June 29, 2002 Meta Posted June 29, 2002 Edited as I just realized there is a link; which I didn't notice. More details coming soon... The listing of a site depends not on the presence or absence of affiliate links, but on the content the site contains.
Meta theseeker Posted June 29, 2002 Meta Posted June 29, 2002 The link to the domain registration compnay should not hinder your site's review. The site will be considered on it's own merit.

Meta theseeker Posted June 30, 2002 Meta Posted June 30, 2002 My original post said that you need to include the site for us to look at it. Then I pressed submit, looked at your post again, and realized I was blind today--you did include it. I edited the post in a hurry before someone could post after me to tell me I was blind today, and then looked at the site. My second post I did after looking at the site. Sorry to be so confusing...
thehelper Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 I was never able to click I agree on either of your web hosting sign up pages. I agree with theseeker that the site will be judged on its own merit but should fix those links before you submit. You should always wait until your site is totally finished and ready to go before you submit to a human edited directory like dmoz. Hope this helps -
Guest just_browsing Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 A lot of similar sites around. I thought this one looked familiar, there was an enquiry about www.895-domain-name-registration.com a few weeks ago. Interestingly this site has now disappeared. It was somewhat similar to http://cheap-domain-name-registrar.com . Phoenix like from ther ashes maybe http://www.1-web-hosting-domain-registration-services.com/terms.htm is also similar to http://www.webhostnext.com/terms.htm Far be it for me to say if the sites are plagarised copies or deliberate clone. Guest Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 Thanks for your help. My website is not complete yet. I have to finish it up in 3 to 4 days. 1-web-hosting-domain-registration-services.com belongs to me including webhostnext, so you will see similarity in the terms and conditions. I do not know about other sites that you mentioned. Any ways thanks for your help. I basically wanted to know whether it would be accepted or not when its finished and done completely.
Guest Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 What about terms and conditions. Cant they be indentical or they have to be different?
Guest Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 Will i have re write a different content of terms and conditions?
Guest Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 Actually thing is that i am going to change the name of my company name from 1-web-hosting-domain-registration-services.com to webhostnext.com. I have an idea , why not i request the removal of 1-web-hosting.... and then submit webhostnext.com to DMoz then this would not be considered a mirror site... Any ideas ? Help>!
Meta theseeker Posted June 30, 2002 Meta Posted June 30, 2002 Go to the category where 1-web-hosting-domain-registration-services.com is listed. Click on "Update URL" in the top corner. Fill in the information that you want changed and submit it. An editor will evaluate the request and change/move the site as appropriate.
Guest kujanomiko Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 As long as you don't claim to offer domain registration directly or submit to a domain cat then it should be fine.
