User needs an email address verification before the user can login.

I recently reapplied to be an editor and it said my user name was already taken, so I tried to login and when I did so it said, "User needs an email address verification before the user can login." . I continued with a password reset to see if that worked and then it still said the same thing. I would like to know how long a activation email takes to receive.

You did not provide enough information to give specific answers so I'll only give some general answers.

 

"user name already taken" means that there is already an editor with that name.

If you did not get a confirmation that you were accepted than this must be an other person.

Trying to hijack an other persons account is not acceptable.

It might also mean that there is already an open application for that name.

It might be you or somebody else.

Without knowing which editor name you used on the application we will not be able to check anything.

From your writing I guess you applied before to become an editor. Did you receive a reply.

If No than it is most probably still waiting.

You can ask for a status when you provide the needed information (editorname, category and date)

The editor name was for, "sdiggles" and the category was under substance abuse treatment/rehabilitation services.
