thebob Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I have a project where I'd like to have one category (about 2300 links) in a CSV file, where I'll make a program to search the CSV. I've been searching for days, I don't know how to use perl or java which most of the tools are made, and there's no documentation to say if I can parse just one category with them. I found Extreme dmoz extractor, which looked great but is depreciated. What other options are there? Cheers, Bob
jimnoble Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 The tools that we know about here are listed in here including its subcategory.
Meta pvgool Posted January 25, 2011 Meta Posted January 25, 2011 I have once seen a tool that would present one category (or a number of selected categories) on a website. Problem is that I can not remember its name. I have never seen a tool that can extract a selection of categories to a database or csv. I know that there are thoughts about creating tools (by AOL/DMOZ) that would make such things possible. But I do not expect them to be available soon. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
thebob Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 Thanks, I couldn't find any suitable tools in that link. It seems so many people use the ODP data, but I don't understand what for or how.
