virenderkumar Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Is it possible to edit the site listing in directory if there is wrong information included in the directory?
Meta pvgool Posted February 8, 2011 Meta Posted February 8, 2011 Yes, go to the category in which the website is listed and click "update listing" at the top of the page. Tell us what yout think should be changed and why this should be done. But plaase, do not try to write ttile and description full of marketing hype. It will be rejected. A DMOZ editor will look at the update request and check the website to see if the request is valid. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
cpat13 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I need an old link removed. We recently moved our site and I did add a new submission for this link. However, I need this old link removed from the directory so that we do not violate the duplicate content rule. The new URL is <url removed> The old site listing is: <url removed> I realized now I should have used this forum vs making new submission....sorry for the confusion.
Meta windharp Posted March 22, 2011 Meta Posted March 22, 2011 As advised above, please use the "Update URL" link provided in the cateogry the current URL is listed in. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
crimmens Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Hello, I submitted an edit via the "update listing" about a week ago. Any idea how long it usually takes for edits to be made? Any way to check on the status? Thank you, Teresa
motsa Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Any idea how long it usually takes for edits to be made?Update requests are usually reviewed fairly quickly ("quickly" being a very subjective term, I know). Usually within several weeks on average. But remember that the review is still dependant on someone choosing to review update requests in that category. And remember also that "reviewed" doesn't necessarily mean "accepted". Processing update requests involves reviewing the site and comparing what the request asks for (change of title/description, URL, or category) with the directory's guidelines for that particular site. Any way to check on the status? No, there isn't. We stopped providing that kind of information here on this site several years ago.
crimmens Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Thank you for the information. Any other advice on how we might facilitate the update would be appreciated. We've found that the incorrect information regarding our website is confusing people. Thanks again.
jimnoble Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 This is a volunteer organisation and we have no means of facilitating/expediting anything. If you are unhappy with the description shown by search engines, you might want to investigate using the NOODP metatag.
RZ Admin Elper Posted May 2, 2011 RZ Admin Posted May 2, 2011 Any other advice on how we might facilitate the update would be appreciatedTo avoid the temptation to keyword stuff or 'commercialize' the title and/or description - it is possible (although unlikely) that the reviewing editor will miss the pertinent information in the request when he/she reviews it. elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.

RZ Admin Elper Posted March 3, 2012 RZ Admin Posted March 3, 2012 No, apart from searching for it periodically or using a service like Google Alerts. elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
seoexpertrizwan Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 How can we removed risky or spam links from directories?
jimnoble Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 You can report them by using the update listing link at the top of the category page. You don't have to own a website to report it.
