Listing:

Alan Craig and Amy Wasson - Coldwell Banker Island Properties - Specializing in the areas of Kihei, Wailea and Makena. Offering real estate on Maui with searchable listings of homes, condos and land for the whole island.

Found under cat:

http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Hawaii/Maui/Localities/Kihei/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/

Realtors Alan & Amy have split. Alan J Craig now has the domain http://www.realestatemauihawaii.com and Amy Wasson has http://www.aamauirealestate.com

Is it possible to split these two up?

Thank you for your time and consideration!

yes.

Go to that category and post an update for the currently listed url telling us the new title and description. The other site can be submitted as a new site.

I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

Taking a quick look at the sites, I noticed that both realestatemauihawaii.com and aamauirealestate.com have exactly the same listings, all taken from mauiboard.com. This means that neither of the sites has any content of its own, and therefore neither of them can be listed. That goes for your mirror, amywasson.com as well.

But then you already knew that didn't you.

You did not look at the sites very well then did you? All Realtors that are members of the Maui Board can sign up for a feature called the WebSearch which features listings all over Maui whether they are the Realtors listings or not.

There are also My Listings on

http://www.aamauirealestate.com

and Featured Properties on

http://mauihawaiirealestateforsale.com/

Which are the Agents own listings and you wont find on the others web page unless searching for that property under search properties.

And yes, they pull from the Maui Board since it is their database... needs to come from somewhere.

AmyWasson.com is not a mirror. It is a redirect. Is there anything wrong with her owning more then one domain? She is only marketing aamauirealestate.com.

Assumptions are a bad thing... next time ask.

Unless there's a problem with my browser, the last two sites you mention don't have any listings of their own. What's the unique content then, except for 'About XY'?

>> All Realtors that are members of the Maui Board can sign up for a feature called the WebSearch which features listings all over Maui whether they are the Realtors listings or not. <<

And that's rather my point. Your sites have plenty of property listings on them, but almost none of them are yours, they're all taken from someone else's site. That means that you have no content on your site. Even the two properties that you claim are your own, are hosted on mauiboard.com. The text on your "Maui Info" page is copied from another source too. The only unique content on your site is a picture of yourself, and the text on the "about us" page.

>> AmyWasson.com is not a mirror. It is a redirect. Is there anything wrong with her owning more then one domain? <<

It isn't a re-direct, it's what we call a gateway. The front page is a mirror of the other site, and all the links on it take you to the other site.

As an ex-editor of the Maui Real Estate category, I would be hugely surprised if you didn't already know all of this.

What you mean is that your sites have links to properties that you have an interest in. Your site has two, and Alan's has four, and all six of them are just links to the details on mauiboard.com.

Try to see this from our point of view. Mauiboard.com is already listed, and it contains all of the properties for sale. The poeple looking through this category are looking for properties that they can buy, they don't care who is selling them. What possible advantage does it give to our users to list your site, which adds no extra property information to the category?

I am not Amy... My name is April, nice to meet you. I was just trying to help them separate their sites as they no longer co-own a web site together.

So you are saying, Alan and Amy as realtors do not deserve to have their own web sites listed which feature their own listings as well as a full search form. They pay for these features from the Maui Board. Should they not offer those features and just put their own listings up that do not call in from the Maui Board WebSearch program... a service which Alan, Amy and about 80 other realtors pay for?

That does not seem right to me. Alan & Amy as realtors want to feature their own properties (which are unique to each site) as well as offer their potential clients access to all active listings within the WebSearch. Again, a service they pay for.

The WebSearch program I mentioned is the IDX solution from the Realtors Association of Maui.

IDX is the NAR (National Association of Realtors) mandated way of putting searchable MLS/listings database information on a web site.

AmyWasson.com is aliased to AAMauiRealEstate.com.

You will find that most realtors will purchase their own name as a domain to alias to their existing site under a different domain.

As I mentioned before, she will only be marketing aamauirealestate.com

Exactly. This has always been generally true ("No site is guaranteed a listing").

Furthermore, recently the Real Estate guidelines have changed so that it is specifically true. Formerly the definition of "unique content" could be satisfied by an agent's name and phone number and little else. That is no longer enough.

I understand that. I only came in asking for advise. I still believe that the sites I have mentioned still deserve to be listed.

A lot of the Realtors use the same database because it is the IDX Solution for their area.

IDX is the NAR (National Association of Realtors) mandated way of putting searchable MLS/listings database information on a web site.

I can understand having other content available. All the real estate web sites I have submitted over the years to Dmoz had their own content as well as the NAR mandated way of adding the searchable listings database information for their area.

IMO - I think it is wrong to penalize when the Realtors are only using what the Nation Association of Realtors want the Realtors to use on their web sites...

As far as the web sites mentioned in previous postings...

Aamauirealestate.com features listings under My Listings where she is the listing agent. She has an about page.

Mauihawaiirealestateforsale.com features listings under Featured Properties where he is the listing agent. He has an about page and useful real estate related links under Maui Links.

I understand that they both features Maui info and a newsletter that is. In the case newsletter, they can add their own content at the top which they will be taking advantage of with the coming newsletter. Both sites are brand new, hence no additional content on the newsletter.
