Yes, it takes some time because we are all volounteers here and don´t work on some specific schedule. So 2 weeks since reporting isn´t relly that long time to resolve the matters, as it is not just one simple listing you reported.

Now that you have brought it to our attention again there´s no need to come here with an attitude that we aren´t doing things at fast as you may want. Be patient, please.

item 2914:

Corporate Takeovers

A year or so back, IBAS were taken over by ONTRACK who themselves are now called KROLL ONTRACK. Having checked the directory, there are many listings for all three of these companies:

Please note the duplicates of ibas.com, ibas.fi, ibas.no and ibas.pl

...

As you can see, there is a fair bit of repitition here, a lot of it, understandably is for regional offices, but surely there should be a single company listed, not 3 different ones, often referring to each other?

Your thoughts please....

Ibas is still a working company in the Nordic region as I understand:

Efter Kroll Ontracks köp har Ibas ansvar för den nordiska regionen och dotterbolag finns i Sverige, Finland, Danmark och Holland.

Because of the way the site is set up (one domain for each language) it seems reasonable that the different domains is listed in respective World/ categories.

Regarding the duplicates it´s not explicitly forbidden to list a domain in different categories if its considered useful, but the main rule is to list a site once at the best category ( http://dmoz.org/guidelines/site-specific.html#multiple ).

item 2915:

Same content, 3 different entries?

fields-data-recovery.co.uk

fields-data-recovery.com

fieldsassociates.com

All have the same text, its just shown in a different template style.

The texts doesn´t look the same to me. Seems listable.

Dead links and Replicas found

Please review the following links as I walkthrough "Top: Business: Textiles and Nonwovens: Machinery and Equipment: Online Measurement and Control" section to check my site inclusion, surprise to note Dead links and Replicas, which I thought of informing you.

Dead Links (3) tried to link three times but failed:

1. http://www.radiometrie.com/

2. http://www.orintex.it/

3. http://www.advanzgauge.com/

Replicas (3) these sites I found to be from same companies only presentation is different.

1. This site has different domain but after few seconds points to same domain.

http://www.isravision.com/

http://www.lasorsystronics.com/

http://www.lasor.com/

2. This site has been listed for two languages, but from same company.

http://www.incore-systemes.fr/

http://www.incore-systemes.com/

3. These sites are the representatives of each other but have common goal, so I thought of how they can be unique to each other.

http://www.erhardt-leimer.com/start.html

http://www.erhardt-leimer-us.com/

Please treat above as just an observation from me, nothing else.

Thanks

Hello,

Current links to http://www.reisen-ferien-bilder.de are obsolete. This domain has a new owner with dubious content. Please change all links to http://www.reisen-ferien-bilder.de into the correct URL http://www.danilin.de.

Just found it similar

Hello Dmoz,

Looking around was great experience, found many information. Came across a common site listed many places, I don't know whether that should be ok with dmoz or not, as to list my site I had read somewhere you don't list any site more then once, if that's true then look for your self here.

Websites may be considered for listing in multiple language categories -- the "one suggestion per site" submittal policy is only applied within each language.

It's also not unusual for a large international manufacturing firm to have multiple listings: and there's no problem with that. The "one suggestion per site" rule doesn't limit editors from listing those sites more than once, if appropriate.

The "one suggestion per site" rule is intended to squelch arrogant morons who say things like "look how many listings cnn.com has! Why you won't deeplink every post I ever made in a drunken stupor to my political-rants blog?" or "Walmart has five listings, why can't my affiliate Vstore storefront be listed in a separate category for every separate klitch item I advertise?" or "Look at all those Geocities listings...and I've suggested my site at least that many times with NOT ONE SINGLE LISTING to show for it..."

I swear, I couldn't make this up. You can find them all in this forum, names only slightly changed....

Problems found...

While using the directory to locate sites that carried specific items I am hunting, I found the following items:

Errors found in Top: Shopping: Clothing: Ethnic and Regional: North American: Hawaiian

Aloha Express - Under construction

Aloha Trading Company - coming soon

Banana Jack - non working link errors

Blue Hawaii Online - hijacked

Pineapple Club-server error

Pupule Tropical Clothing-domain for sale

Rainbow Gifts Hawaii-listed twice

I didn't follow all the links in that category, but the above were the included in the links I did try.

Wishing we had a listing, but cleaning it up instead...

http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Mortgages/Calculators/

Barrons Mortgage Group, Ltd. - Over 30 mortgage and personal financial calculators. (http://www.barronsmtg.com/calculators.htm) - does not seem to be live.

FinderEdge Software - Offers a schedule amortization calculator for loan, bond, insurance, mortgage amortization tables, and Canadian mortgage amortization schedules. (http://www.fineredge.com/) Maybe it's me, but after three clicks I couldn't even find a calculator.

HomeCalcs - Calculators for the real estate professionals to purchase for their web sites. (http://www.homecalcs.com/). This one redirects.

Interest Rate Calculator - Java-based mortgage calculator with amortization charts and tables. (http://www.interestratecalculator.com/) Is it really necessary to provide address and phone number just to calculate a mortgage payment?

Sksi.com - Mortgage and loan calculators for realtors, lenders, brokers and consumers (http://www.sksi.com/) This site has a nice picture of a calculator that redirects to another site. Shame shame.

We've got about 80 original calculators on our site (complete with instructions and sometimes even how to intepret the results). But we've already got our one listing and... Well we've argued this before.

Re: item2888

@Ivan Bajlo - Sorry it took me so long to get back to this.

http://www.monitor.hr/jutarnji/ seems to be unconnected to http://www.jutarnji.hr/ and is still functioning (one broken link would not get it delisted) so the URL cannot be changed/updated as would eg. a domain that actually changed urls, but provided the same content as the old url.

Feel free to suggest the http://www.jutarnji.hr/ for a listing through normal channels.

Also, if you continue to have concerns about the http://www.monitor.hr/jutarnji/ listing, you can use the Update Request feature to have a World editor take a look.

Thanks :)

item2965 is done.

Banana Jack - I did get an error on a couple of links, but the rest of the site links/shopping cart, etc seem to work fine.

Rainbow Gifts - I think hutcheson summed this up well in 2964, specifically

It's also not unusual for a large international manufacturing firm to have multiple listings: and there's no problem with that. The "one suggestion per site" rule doesn't limit editors from listing those sites more than once, if appropriate.
