chaz7979 Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 http://dmoz.org/Home/Consumer_Information/Electronics/Weblogs/ http://rc6.org/ This is a personal website and has no consumer electronic info. I am guessing this url has changed hands. http://www.teknetik.com/ This website has about 15 posts in the last year. One is about Britteny flashing her vagina and 5 more are "girls of the day" admittedly the other 5 posts in the last year do have something to do with tech.
Meta tschild Posted May 16, 2007 Meta Posted May 16, 2007 Working on #3115. - #3115 done, thanks. (found new URL)
NCMan Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Working on #3115. - #3115 done, thanks. (found new URL) TSChild, Question about reporting quality issues: 1.)In your experience, how long should we wait from detecting a dead link until reporting it. The last series of posts I made, I waited 48 hours to make sure they were really dead before reporting them. After reporting them, I noticed the next day that a couple of them had revived either on their own or anonymously by an editor. It's sort of embarrassing to me to have this happen. 2.) I don't have problems finding issues with entries in categories not having an assigned editor. Should I report them here?. There are so many categories without an editor and I seldom experience problems going through a category and finding dead and hijaked links. I just want to make sure I'm reporting issues to the proper forum. 3.) When going through categories for which there is an editor assigned, should I report the issues to the category editor, report them here, or both? Regards, NCMan
gimmster Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 how long should we wait from detecting a dead link until reporting itI'd think your 48 hours is fine for letting us know. Our internal error checking tools run rechecks around 2 weeks after an error is first identified by them, but we don't expect that time frame as an absolute value. I can't speak for other editors that work from these threads, but when I do if a site is not available, I remove it from public view, but leave it for rechecking at a future time, unless there is evidence of it being down for a while. 2) and 3) Reporting them here is fine, as is using the 'update listing' feature from the category, Reporting to a specific editor could be a problem, even if the editor is active - your report might get sent the day after they leave for a 3 month trek in Nepal. Here they are likely to be acted on by someone relatively quickly.
NCMan Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Reporting to a specific editor could be a problem, even if the editor is active - your report might get sent the day after they leave for a 3 month trek in Nepal. Here they are likely to be acted on by someone relatively quickly. That's been my experience with this last batch of issues I reported. One editor responded and was excellent to work with. FiberGuy Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Wrong Category... Greetings! The site "Daniel Hersh, Certified Appraiser", located here: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Antiques_and_Collectibles/Varied_Merchandise/D/ Probably belongs here: http://dmoz.org/Reference/Museums/Museum_Resources/ It seems like a tough call to place it in the appropriate category, as there isn't much for appraisers of non-real estate. The site definitely isn't selling antiques. Tanx!

Meta Artisands Posted May 19, 2007 Meta Posted May 19, 2007 #3117 - The category is for individual browser based action games (rather than collections). The “babes” are noted in the description, so apparently the editor felt there was sufficient “other” topics to merit a listing. Thanks Curlie Meta editor artisands CurlieCrew
NCMan Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 #3128 - Yes, they are on the products page. Listing seems fine as it is. Thanks. The category editor corrected it. The original link pointed to a different site (listed in multiple categories) which had a link to Arachnid's product page Question: I come across entries within the same category where the pages have the same look and feel. If I check the links, I find that they're cross linked and sure enough, if I "whois" them, they're owned and operated by the same outfit. Is this something that should be reported as a quality issue? Regards, NCMan
