Meta Artisands Posted November 4, 2007 Meta Posted November 4, 2007 #3675 is done. Thanks But what if their owners have already applied for DMOZ listing and wait for the inclusion? In such case my re-submission with throw their submission to the end of the list! Not really, as there isn't exactly an ordered list. A re-submission to the exact category would overwrite an existing submission, but not many editors choose to review sites in date order. More generally they would use a random method (like picking out those with good titles and descriptions first). Curlie Meta editor artisands CurlieCrew
ZaagTand Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Greece/Prefectures/Halkidiki/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/ halkidikihotels.com is redirected
yorick Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Listed in DMOZ but now deleted I forgot to renew my domain, a photography site which was and still is listed in DMOZ. Someone else has bought the domain name and it is being used as a parking page (could be worse). I have created another photography site which I would like to be listed in DMOZ, and am willing to apply through the usual channels. But I'm wondering whether DMOZ would re-direct my listing to my new site, instead. Alternatively, if I created another site, which would be an identical copy of the site which was deleted, would DMOZ be willing to re-direct my listing to this site. By identical copy I mean that it would have exactly the same domain name, exactly the same content and links but it would have a different TLD, ie. it would be an .org rather than a .com which was the deleted domain's TLD.
Meta Artisands Posted November 6, 2007 Meta Posted November 6, 2007 yorick, Since the site is still listed, you can navigate to the category and use the "update listing" link at the top of the page. Follow the instructions and include a short description of the situation, as well as the new URL. An editor will look at this and if it is determined to be a legitimate request, will update the listing. [Added: Just saw in your title that the site is no longer listed. Sorry, I missed that. Submit the new URL to the category with a brief note in brackets saying that it is a replacement for the other URL.] Curlie Meta editor artisands CurlieCrew

gimmster Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 American Academy in Tbilisi - removed from directory in July Adult Education Association of Georgia - removed, looking for new url International Black Sea University - site works (very slowly), both listings OK Contemporary Georgian Art: Kakhaber Donadze - removed New Art Union - was working as recently as 15Nov, left in place for now in case it returns Community Connections Program - new url found Economists Union of Georgia - removed Assistance Georgia - works for me Poti Central Library - removed National Security Council of Georgia - deleted Georgian Association of Experts in Religious Studies - removed Human Rights Information and Documentation Center - new url found Human Rights Online - removed International Association of Young Diplomats - changed to old working url Internet Access and Training Program in Georgia (IATP) - removed (note this url is also responsible for many of the other errors which it used to host) Bigvava, Nino - was working as recently as 13 November, left listed for now I must notice that section "Gerogia" is very, very poor It appears that there are few editors interested in building the categories for Georgia. If you think they can be improved, and have the time and ability to edit without favouring one site over another, I'd suggest you become an editor. Because of the way that Regional editing works, I'd suggest you start by appplying for one of the Localities http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Georgia/Localities - obviously Tbilsi is the only one with many listings at present, but you should be able to find more *English language* (or bi lingual) sites for the others with your local knowledge <added> please read the editing guideline before applying http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/ , especially the selection and description pages </added> Contrary to an oft voiced opinion, editing isn't about listing suggested sites, but about building categories of information. You can get the urls to list from anywhere - local newspaper, off the side of a bus, from TV ads, and directly add them as an editor. (you can suggest them as a non-editor, but then you have to wait for someone to volunteer to edit there)
maila Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 website with blank page has not been removed. This web site is still listed on Dmoz their link is "under construction" for long time. Budalata Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 We are trying to provide surfers unique and valuable information. IMHO this site contains a lot of information, and one "under construction" page is not a great problem. Thanks for helping us.
ravs Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 At http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Delhi/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/ Tilak Bisht should be move into either http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Society_and_Culture/Personal_Pages/T/ OR http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Uttar_Pradesh/Localities/Noida/Society_and_Culture/ since he is not located in Delhi (accourding to his contact page).
Budalata Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Dont see any reason why this site to be moved in cats you offered - and probably more experienced editor with better english will explain you exactly why. Edit: Sorry, have look at wrong site, not the one you have pointed; so there are reasons this site to be moved
Tim Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 After this was brought to my attention... "You will see links occasionally to http://research.dmoz.org/~gti96/ddp/ which is not currently accessable for anyone. Please just ignore them for now. We hope to have access to that server, or a replacement version, online in the future, but we have no control over when that may happen." ...I realized that everything below is irrelevant. Sorry about that = (. --------------------------------------------------------- Hello, I found a broken link in the Editor Resource Zone. The broken link is: http://research.dmoz.org/~gti96/ddp/ The error message is: Not Found The requested URL /~gti96/ddp/ was not found on this server. It is right at the top of the Editor Resource Zone page and it is supposed to go to the DMOZ Documentation Project (Unofficial). Hope this helps! EDIT: Found another one as I was reading Editorial Style Guidelines. All the way at the bottom of the page. The broken link is: http://research.dmoz.org/~gti96/ddp/07001/ The error message is: Not Found The requested URL /~gti96/ddp/07001/ was not found on this server. It is supposed to go to "more information about cooling sites." EDIT2: Another broken like in the Subcategories section. Near the bottom of the page. The broken link: http://research.dmoz.org/~gti96/ddp/01006/ Text that contains the link: Complex changes such as those affecting hierarchy and ontology should be discussed and agreed upon by the editing community. Follow these tips and advice when reorganising category hierarchies: Reorganising Categories. Tim
