John_Caius Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here Hi webdoctor! Have you considered applying to become an editor? It looks as though you'd be good at it!
Editall/Catmv suzy1212 Posted August 11, 2003 Editall/Catmv Posted August 11, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here http://www.alternative-food-and-drink.co.uk/ moved to unreviewed in case the problem is temporary. http://www.chowbaby.com/ seems to offer a lot of information along with the gift certificates they sell. I'd like to ask the editors familiar with that area before I do anything with that one. Removed http://www.topsecretrecipes.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/Ultimate.cgi
bobrat Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here In this category, numaTek Web Design appears to no longer be a web design company. I only see web hosting and SEO services. Thank you, the site has just been removed from Design and is on it's way to hosting, and you will see the change when the public version of ODP updates.

The changes I have made will not show up until the public pages are re-generated, which won't happen until staff have fixed the bug that's currently holding it up. Thanks for reporting them all.

bobrat Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here It wasn't that easy to find them - they didn't show up in the normal way.
Guest linnell12 Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here ONLY The site http://www.battlefordsnorthstars.com resides in the category http://dmoz.org/Sports/Hockey/Ice_Hockey/Leagues/Junior/Canadian_Junior_A_Hockey_League/Saskatchewan_Junior_Hockey_League/ . This domain has been hijacked. The web-site that resides at http://www.battlefordsnorthstars.com contains a link to pornographic material.
dfy Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here That entry was deleted several weeks ago, but the public pages haven't been updated yet. Once the bug stopping the updates is cleared, you'll see the listing vanish. We always appreciate people reporting porn hijacks, as we like to rip them out as fast as possible. Unfortunately, the update bug isn't something we can control.
Guest juzme123 Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here ONLY http://www.cheap-domain-names.ws/ and http://www.cheap-discount-domain-names.biz/ have both been removed from Computers: Internet: Domain Names: C already on July 5th. The only problem is that the public page hasn't been updated since, due to system works. But as soon as the category refreshes, those sites will not be listed any more. http://www.cheap-domainregistration.com/ is still listed in Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Hosting: C. As I don't really know this business, would please another editor have a look into this one? Yours, Robert I could see that the first 2 sites had already been removed but the last one (www.cheap-domainregistration.com) is still around. Just wondering if anyone will be checking on it as well. Tom

Guest fran Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 Adult Store In A Teen Girl's Category An adult store with very explicit pictures is in a category for young girls. Please look at it as soon as you have time because young children might see this site. http://dmoz.com/Shopping/Clothing/Teens/Girls/ Title: Candy Crush I already e-mailed staff@dmoz.org about this but maybe the editors are too busy right now to read my e-mail so I posted it here because I think this should immediately be removed.
Guest Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 Re: Adult Store In A Teen Girl's Category I've removed the listing. Thanks for pointing it out. Note that staff@dmoz.org goes to the ODP paid staff (who receive a whole lot of mail!). Posting here about this stuff is great, since many of the volunteers can handle these requests. The site won't appear in any future RDF's, and will disappear from the public side when page generation is fixed (staff is working on it). [note -- previous post is still pending]
Meta hutcheson Posted August 22, 2003 Meta Posted August 22, 2003 Re: Adult Store In A Teen Girl's Category >I already e-mailed staff@dmoz.org">staff@dmoz.org</a> about this but maybe the editors are too busy right now to read my e-mail so I posted it here because I think this should immediately be removed. Double thanks for your persistance. We really do appreciate reports like this...and try to show it by acting on them quickly. (When our new public page update system is working, you'll SEE the results quickly, sigh...) For the record, <a href="mailto:staff@dmoz.org goes to the professional staff, all both of them, and not to any editor. THEY are enormously overworked, and generally, anything the editors can do will get done more quickly if you communicate with "the editors" -- that is, this forum, where many editors can see it, and almost surely at least one will look into it. Communicating with a particular category editor is good also...if that volunteer editor is active and checking mail, otherwise the message may get lost.

Guest arubalisa Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here ONLY I believe this URL http://www.arubianainn.com/ Top: Regional: Caribbean: Aruba: Travel and Tourism: Lodging: Hotels is listed under the incorret category. Equivalent "studio" accommmodations are listed in the category: Top: Regional: Caribbean: Aruba: Travel and Tourism: Lodging Four of the resorts listed under Top: Regional: Caribbean: Aruba: Travel and Tourism: Lodging: Hotels are actually timeshare accommodations. Guest NickA Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 Domain Hi-Jack The http://www.zebra.co.uk/ domain has been taken over. It was originally listed as a Web/Multimedia designer, but now sells barcode printer hardware. A few pages still exist to fool editors into thinking they're related to the previous owner of the domain, but the site definitely does not belong in any of the categories that it's currently listed in: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Dynamic_and_Multimedia/Z/ http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Tyne_and_Wear/Newcastle/Business_and_Economy/Internet/ http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Z/

CREATE new category ???????? Top: Regional: Caribbean: Aruba: Health: Beauty: Salons and Spas http://www.visitaruba.com/cosmos/ is now listed under http://dmoz.org/Regional/Caribbean/Aruba/Business_and_Economy/ Some how does not fit into category description "Organizations that offer banking services, financial advice, offshore consulting and company formation" :)I know for a fact that this day spa does not offer banking, financial, consulting etc. advice. Just your usual run of the mill massages, manicures, facials...
jeanmanco Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Re: Hijacks & Other Content Changes - Report Here ONLY I think some of those links were removed/fixed a while ago, but the public side hasn't updated to show that. Take a look at Aruba and see if it looks OK to you. The category description you were looking at was for Aruba: B&E: Financial Services . It appeared to be for the whole of B&E because the description for B&E was missing. I have fixed that now.
