jeanmanco Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 #825 Thanks for going to the trouble. These are just the right type of problems to report. I have starting working on your list, but the ODP server is slow at the moment, so I have only got as far as http://www.kailove.com/ .
Markc13 Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Dead / incorrect links The link to "BrainFlower - Dotcom ideas" in the category Top: Business: Investing: Humor is currently linking to a page that no longer exists. Also, "Psychic Dog - Psychic Dog predicts which stocks, under $20 to buy, sell or hold. " in the same category now leads to a number of pictures of a home under construction. Just wanted to let you know. Regards, Mark

jeanmanco Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 #825 continued. I cannot find that http://www.chatrooms.org is or ever has been listed. http://www.chatroom.org (no s) is listed and working fine. All dead links taken out and non-English sites moved now, thanks.
jeanmanco Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 #827 dealt with, thanks. The flexibilty of the Net is its greatest strength and our greatest challenge. Webmasters can and do redesign sites and change content all the time.
jeanmanco Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 #828 dealt with, thanks. Clearly there has been a change of site owner since the listing, as gboisseau says. #829 dealt with, thanks. #830 dealt with, thanks. As gboisseau says.
blaster_1981 Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 http://www.webcity.co.uk/chat/ No longer runs a chat service. Tho it does advertise something else. Its in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Chat/ ---- http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Chat/Community_Chat/ http://www.white-lightning.co.uk/southroom/ Discountined. http://www.blackbritain.co.uk/chat/ Seems to be a deadlink (Maybe the link below in the directory listing is the update and this old entry hasn't been removed? Maybe the site is just down at the time not sure.)
screenprinter Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Dead/broken links Here are a few dead or broken links. http://www.jwproducts.com/ http://www.rockisland.com/~newmoon/shirts.html Located in the following category. http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Clothing/Custom/ Thanks, David
jeanmanco Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 #838 dealt with, thanks. #839 dealt with, thanks.
blaster_1981 Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Title tag abuse Title tag abuse with affilate scheme and pretty much irrelvant. Ciao.com http://www.uk.ciao.com/ciao.php?Pid=1,12,12975,12961 in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Chat/
jeanmanco Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 I looked at that one when you drew that category to my attention. The title is not wrong. In this case it is following the standard pattern for deep links (i.e. links to sub-sections or individual pages of a site). Site Name: Page/Section Name. We list reviews if the content is substantial. However I am looking at other aspects of the category. You may see some changes. [Edited to add] The category has been moved and renamed UK: Society and Culture: Chats and Forums
plantrob Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Elusive gardening http://www.mlys00070.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ no longer goes to a useful page (in http://dmoz.org/Home/Gardens/Resources/Directories/)
blaster_1981 Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Society_and_Culture/ The chat seems to be a Symlink.. Maybe it should be unsymed and changed to Chat & Forum (it seems to be symed to the old location and redirected to the new location without a direct link).
jeanmanco Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 The change is just not fully showing yet on the public side. It does make it look a bit odd at the moment. All will be well in a day or two.
