jeanmanco Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 #875 dealt with thanks. I've left the very active local editor to make final decisions on these issues, having drawn his attention to them internally. #876 dealt with thanks.
Mok Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I found this dead link: http://www.torontogolf.com/ with a place holder in category: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Ontario/Localities/T/Toronto/Recreation_and_Sports/Golf/
ukros Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Couple of minor fixes needed: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Sussex/Burgess_Hill/ St Andrew's Church http://www.andrewschurch.fsnet.co.uk/ now redirects to their new url: http://www.standrews-burgesshill.org.uk/ The Royal British Legion page http://www.communigate.co.uk/sussex/burgesshillroyalbritishlegion/ has a note that it is no longer actively updated, but there seems to be plenty of still useful information there, perhaps a comment needs adding to the description?
ukros Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Sussex/Burgess_Hill/Arts_and_Entertainment/ Battle Zone Robots http://hometown.aol.co.uk/bzrwebsite/ There are several notes on the site saying the service is closed but may be resumed, that no equipment is currently available for hire and a venue is being sought. http://www.sueevansphotography.com/ This is a portfolio from a commercial photographer available for commissions, should this be in the main Burgess Hill category or the business sub-cat as a local business, rather than in arts? I would appreciate an editor comment on this one so I don't waste anyone's time if I run across another like this. Category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Sussex/Burgess_Hill/Business_and_Economy/ http://www.bwlifttrucks.co.uk/ link seems to be dead http://www.cinnamonfashion.co.uk/ - I can see where they are supposed to be in Burgess Hill, but am not totally convinced they are there. But maybe I am going blind, also <shameless boast> I don't need clothes in larger sizes so I wouldn't necessarily pay much attention to this type of shop </shameless boast> I will check this shop on my next visit to Burgess Hill later on this week. http://www.sussexenterprise.co.uk/ Whilst Burgess Hill is the physical location of their offices, this is a large county-wide "chamber of commerce" type organisation, should they be in a much wider regional category? (maybe they already are, I have only done a quick search) Category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Sussex/Burgess_Hill/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ CW Design http://www.cwdes.co.uk/ The description correctly states they are in Ardingly. Ardingly does not have its own category. If there are no plans to have an Ardingly sub-cat in West Sussex then Ardingly sites should go into Haywards Heath rather than Burgess Hill (according to postal address) http://www.inlecom.com/ I cannot find a physical address or phone number anywhere on their site. The same applies to http://www.ttecsupport.co.uk/ (except they publish a mobile phone number) http://www.siteworx.co.uk/ say they are in Brighton (no address published) but the phone number seems to be a Burgess Hill one. http://www.pc-king.co.uk/ don't have an address on site, but do mention Burgess Hill and give a Burgess Hill phone number, they also offer online and offline means of finding their address (which work) http://www.red-it.co.uk/ has a Rottingdean address at the top of every page, there is no Rottingdean sub-cat, should this go under Brighton? Finally, while thinking about Ardingly, I wondered about the South of England showground and agricultural society, I can't find their web site listed at dmoz (might be my incompetent searching) their url is http://www.seas.org.uk/
ukros Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Wow, that was quick! How nice to see that the villages of Rottingdean and Ardingly now have their own sub-cats Just one small ooops, http://www.pc-king.co.uk/ who do belong in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Sussex/Burgess_Hill/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ have been moved into http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/East_Sussex/Rottingdean/ It should have been http://www.red-it.co.uk/ that moved over. I will try to check the rest of Burgess Hill in the next few days

I would appreciate an editor comment on this one so I don't waste anyone's time if I run across another like this. FYI - the practice in Regional categories is to list photographers in Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Photographers , but where there are not sufficient sites to warrant creating the sub categories, they are listed in the parent category. Since there is only the single photographer, it's not worth creating the sub categories to seperate it out, and so it is listed in Arts_and_Entertainment . Most Businesses are listed in Business_and_Economy, but this is one of the (few) exceptions. [Also be aware that to allow for this sideways links (those that end in @ ie Photography@ ) can link to the Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography category from Business_and_Economy/Services , Business_and_Economy/Advertising_and_Marketing , and Business_and_Economy/Event_Planning when they exist.] Information overload complete! :tree:

ukros Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Post 882 http://www.cinnamonfashion.co.uk/ - I can see where they are supposed to be in Burgess Hill, but am not totally convinced they are there. My sincere apologies to Cinnamon Fashion, their shop is exactly where it should be, I must have walked past it hundreds of times. (Ros makes a note to look up opticians in ODP ) Also many thanks to gimmster for the explanation of how photographers are categorised.

Perhaps this site is same category editor ...) - Calcutta Web Developers Company (Site title is abusing, it should be "Calcutta Web Developers" only.) http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Basic_Service/I/ - Ideas2Internet
Guest gimmster Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 #894, the Regional listings have been changed to conform to the sites. Thanks. The Ideas2Internet listing needs someone with permissions there to action. :tree:
jeanmanco Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 #893 dealt with thanks. #894 - the dead site in Computers removed, thanks.
oolala Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 When I can expect to see those changes in user side? Thanks to all for your efforts
jeanmanco Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 The changes should be visible in a day or so. We can't make promises, as it varies.
tomdmo Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Adult Content http://www.geocities.com/daveshwz/ This site contains hidden links to porn sites, if you look into the html source code, you will find links pointing to dreamhost adult sites.
jeanmanco Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 #899 I see them. Thanks for the alert. I'm dealing with it.
