lorimer Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Top: Games: Gambling: Sports: Tipping and Handicapping: Soccer http://www.beto.com/ - Under construction for almost a year http://www.english-football-betting.com/ - I could not find anything usefull. All pages of this site are not working or have some php problems for some time...but anchor at DMOZ is really great for Google :-) http://www.footballbrain.net/ - not working for some time http://globetting.com/ - this site is now redirected to bettingexperts.com. It was great site once http://www.kuntzean.com/ - now porno site http://www.soccer-cafe.com/ - I would also like to know what this site is now, but definetely is not what it is written here. SoccerClue - moved to new link (without comment about quality) http://www.ken-higham.supanet.com/ - also out of action for some time http://www.bahisklavuz.com/ - not english anymore...just turkish I think So 9 of 29 are bad links, which is around 30% Also, you should check some of other links as quality is really doubtfull. I am trying to list my site for some time, and since I am in this business, I can tell you for sure that there is at least 20 sites 10 class better then half of your listed once.

Meta andysands Posted October 6, 2005 Meta Posted October 6, 2005 Oh that makes more sense seems odd there was that many. /me wonders if he can remember his webring login ? If they have adult stuff shouldn't they be in adult then? There may be differences between what ODP classifies as adult content and what webring does. Although I note that our adult guidelines: http://dmoz.org/guidelines/adult/general.html include the following as being adult content: Sites which have sexually explicit personal advertisements or message boards So you may well have a point. I'll flag the category to our internal forums for someone with greater knowledge of that area to look at.

glynos63 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Thank you all for your hard work to deal with my reports so far. A reminder that I still haven't seen any action on #1385 (related posts are #1398, #1399, #1400, #1421, #1422) to deal with what I considered as "spammer". I can still see all its core travel listings online and I didn't find any update about your decision. IMO having an internet company submitting many travel sites to ODP and advertise its sites' search engine placements is indicating that this company is well aware of ODP guidelines and should be considered a spammer. ------------ Something else I noticed: After my report #1439 an editor changed the URL http://www.naturism-greece.com to http://www.west-crete.com/naturism-nudism-crete.htm at http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Greece/Travel_and_Tourism/Travel_Guides/ . I think it was wrong as this is definitely not a travel guide for Greece. It's a local one for naturism in Crete so it should be deleted from that category.
jeanmanco Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 #1586 - I agree with you about the west-crete deep link, which I just removed before reading your post. (I was following up #1439). re #1439 I cannot find that west-crete and sfakia-crete are of the same company. However the latter's deep links did need review, so thanks for pointing it out.

jeanmanco Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 #1583 dealt with now, thanks. The first site you mentioned is live, but needed review, so thanks for drawing attention to it. The content had clearly changed since it was listed.

If you browse the hotel pages you will find that prices, online reservations and many images do not work as well.
glynos63 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Category: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Greece/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/ I think all the 3 listings there, are lodging guides without anything special and should be moved to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Greece/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/Lodging_Guides/ or the opposite (all the lodging guides to be moved to the main Lodging category).

jeanmanco Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 #1594 - I'm not sure that I agree with you. Mediterranean Traditional Mansions is a voluntary association. That's a bit different from a typical lodging guide. A quick look at the other two again suggests some ownership/control relationship with the properties. Perhaps another editor more familiar with the minefield of accommodation might disagree, but for the moment, I'm leaving things as they are.
jeanmanco Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 #1596 - I agree. It's been passed over to World. Actually it seems to be listed in Chinese Traditional already under a different URL.
