jonnyy Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 #2225. Exhibit Surveys still does not works for me.
jeanmanco Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Exhibit Surveys is working for me in the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. So it doesn't look like a browser problem. Maybe the site is blocking access from a particular IP range.

jeanmanco Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 #2231 looked into. The two shopping listings seem acceptable under current guidelines. The business ships worldwide and so can be listed in the main Shopping tree. But it is UK-based and ships faster within the UK, so earns a Regional shopping listing. The two deep links were listed by different editors, who clearly thought them a useful addition to the categories in question. Who am I to argue? I may personally feel that the Internet would be a better place if totally purged of Recreation: Humor: Bizarre: Dancing Pages, but tastes differ. These are not product deep links.
wbeckman Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 More Fiji problems Continuing in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Fiji/Travel_and_Tourism/Travel_Guides/, Fiji Savusavu Guide - affiliate of travelmaxia.com Savusavu Fiji - looks like fraternal mirror of the above site, also with travelmaxia.com Fiji Travel Vision - affiliate of pacific-travel-guides.com Fiji Weddings Directory - affiliate of travelmaxia.com Pacific Harbour Fiji - affiliate of travelmaxia.com Real Fiji Vacations - affiliate of travelmaxia.com South Pacific Holidays - site is spac.com which redirects to tropicalfiji.com and this site is affiliated with turtlefiji.com which is already listed under Fiji///Resorts. jonnyy Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Hi. I may personally feel that the Internet would be a better place if totally purged of Recreation: Humor: Bizarre: Dancing Pages, but tastes differ. They should change the category to Recreation: Not humor: Annoying: Dancing Pages. Anyway in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Somerset/Shepton_Mallet/ No longer there: The Electronic Guide to Shepton Mallet - An interesting and useful selection of information for both local residents and visitors. Site Suspended: Alham Wood Cheese - Producer of buffalo milk cheese. Profile of the farm, product ordering and contact details. Furniture Fifty9 - The company crafts a range of contemporary furniture, combining temperate and exotic hardwoods, and aluminium elements. There is also the Fifty9 limited edition range. is a doorway page for Honeycliff Designs - Offers custom built contemporary and Shaker influenced furniture and ceramics. Includes pictures and prices of typical items and wood finishes. Nothing on page: Shepton Veterinary Group - Offers expert consultancy on Mastitis. Dead: St Aldhelm's C.E.V.C. School - Prospectus, calendar and gallery of recent work for this primary school at Doulting. URL Hijack? or holding page: The Wedding Planner - Details of wedding co-ordination service, helping to plan and arrange the big event. Outline of services, fees and contact information. Dead: Whitstone School and Technology College - Profile of the school with curriculum information, year group details and sports fixtures. Goodbye.
jonnyy Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Sorry I forgot to ask why listed under U? http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Humor/Biz...ncing_Pages/U/ Weenie Dance - A saucy dance page, watch those Weenies go.
Meta shadow575 Posted February 23, 2006 Meta Posted February 23, 2006 Item #2237 has been dealt with. I left the FurnitureFifty9 site listed and actually removed the HoneyCliff Designs. The link for Honeycliff designs is actually a doorway page to FurnitureFifty9 and another furniture maker site. Seemed more appropriate imo to keep the actual site page and remove the other in this case. Thanks. wbeckman Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 In http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Papua_New_Guinea/Arts_and_Entertainment/, Agamemnon - spelling in desc. Gwe: Young Man of New Guinea: A Novel Against Racism - looks like belongs in shopping. Papua New Guinea Handcraft Exports - Fobidden PNG Handcraft Exports - looks like another shopping site. In http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Papua_New_Guinea/Travel_and_Tourism/, Papua New Guinea Travel Guide - Pictures, Tips and Reviews - couldn't access site. In http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Papua_New_Guinea/Travel_and_Tourism/Travel_Guides/, Morobe Tourism Bureau - double listed domain (root and a deeplink of same) Papua New Guinea Travel Guide - couldn't access site. In http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Papua_New_Guinea/Maps_and_Views/, Should Pictures Catalogue be listed 6 times? - same domain with different deeplinks. In http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Papua_New_Guinea/Education/, Papua New Guinea Maritime College - double listing here, same domain. pngbuai.com - domain listed 43 times in PNG cat's (16 in B&E, 12 in Education and 11 in S&C) - seems a bit much if you ask me.
Meta shadow575 Posted February 25, 2006 Meta Posted February 25, 2006 I worked through most of Item 2240 The one PNG travel guide is working for me and Gwe: Young Man of New Guinea: A Novel Against Racism seems to be more than just shopping and imo is ok in A&E. I didn't have time to look at the pic catalog or pngbuai.com at the moment if no one gets to it I will try to get back to it when time permits. wbeckman Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 The one PNG travel guide is working for me and Gwe: Young Man of New Guinea: A Novel Against Racism seems to be more than just shopping and imo is ok in A&E. True, there is more than the shopping, it's just that all the extra stuff is boilerplate and in the form of external links to http://www.perey-anthropology.net/ which, btw, is already listed 4 times including the root. The only thing unique on the site in question is the sale of one book, and that surely must belong in Shopping/ rather than A&E. Furthermore, http://www.aestheticrealism.org/ is another affiliated site that is linked to and listed 8 times including the root url. I'm basically saying the "Gwe" site is merely an affiliate to the others which are amply represented already. In that respect, Gwe should not even be listed at all since there is a direct link to it on the perey-anthropology.net front page. There are many sites like these that are inter-related, linked to each other and listed in the diectory. The question is, to what extent should they all be listed. Travel sites that are affiliates are not allowed and when they are identified, they are usually deleted. The same criteria should be applied in this case, IMO, as the Gwe site is nothing more than an affiliate of other listed sites even though it (Gwe) has its own domain.

kevin_svek Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Thanks Jean Only got as far as the S's on the second pass so may have some more for you in a few days. See you took out the redirects - wasn't sure about whether they were actually valid or not! Regards Kevin (svekcomputing)
jeanmanco Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 The redirects might be fine, but I did not have time (or inclination) to review the new urls. The category has an editor, so I placed these in unreviewed for him to consider.
