Guest DevMaster Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Hello, I would appreciate if someone could kindly inform me of the status of the following website: http://www.devmaster.net/ which was submitted to the following category: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Programming/Games/ Looking forward to any positive responses. Thank you.
brmehlman Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 It's awaiting review in that category, along with a rather large number of other submissions. If you don't see it listed in a few months, feel free to check here again. Should you do so, please reuse this thread rather than starting another one.
Guest DevMaster Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Thank you for your reply. Would it be possible to let me know about the submitted domain and description for that site. i.e. is it http://devmaster.net or is it http://www.devmaster.net/ If it is the former, could you please change it to http://www.devmaster.net/ Also, would appreciate if I could see the description that was submitted. Thank you very much.
Alucard Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 As either one of the versions work for your website, and from a URL perspective they are identical, it seems unimportant which one was submitted. And I'm sorry, but we can not give information about submissions beyond the status on this board. In general, most editors will review the site and change the submitted description anyway, so it isn't that critical. Thanks.
Guest DevMaster Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 That's true. However, according to the hosting service, the http://devmaster.net/ domain is less stable than the http://www.devmaster.net/ In addition, I would like to have a consistent URL for search engines to use (in google for example, http://devmaster.net/ is different from http://www.devmaster.net/ and both have different rankings although they are both the same). I would appreciate if you could make sure that the domain submitted was actually http://www.devmaster.net/ and not the other. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
Alucard Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 I'm sorry, but we really don't concern ourselves with how listings in the ODP affect page rankings or search engines. We will list a page or site that works, that is all. My only suggestion is for you to wait for the site to get reviewed. If it gets published and the URL isn't the one you want, you are welcome to submit an "Update URL" request, and you can explain your reasoning in there. Thanks
