onlyway Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I recently applied to become an editor for the Baptist History category: http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Denominations/Baptist/History/ but received this email: ********************************************************************************************************** Dear oneway, Thank you for your application to edit, however, you already have an editor account. Only one account is allowed. Accounts expire if you do not login within the first month, or, if you do not edit for a consecutive period of four months. To request reinstatement, go here and fill out the form: http://dmoz.org/reinstate.html If you do not have access to your old email account, please visit our editor sponsored forum to request assistance. http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showforum=11 Your application for a new editor account at the Open Directory Project has been rejected because we believe you already have (or had in the past) another editor account. We have a strict rule of only one account per person (see http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/accounts.html ). If you wish to edit the directory, you will need to use your existing / previous account rather than applying for a new one. If your account is active and you know your password, you should be able to log in at http://www.dmoz.org/editors/ and continue editing. If you want to apply for a new category, please see the advice at http://www.dmoz.org/newperms.html and then use the "Request to be editor for another category" link at http://www.dmoz.org/editors/ to submit an internal new permissions request. If you have forgotten your password, you can use the form at http://www.dmoz.org/public/forgetpass/ to reset it. (But you need to be able to receive email sent to the address we have recorded for you.) If you had an account previously that has now lapsed, then you need to apply for this account to be reinstated. Please use the form at http://www.dmoz.org/reinstate.html for this. You will need to know your editorname and previous password. If you don't know either of these details, then please ask for help in the "Becoming an Editor" forum at http://www.resource-zone.com/ . It is usually possible for us to identify your account from other information you can supply, and we can then arrange for the password to be reset. We hope you will be back editing with us shortly. Regards, DMOZ Team ************************************************************************************** I have no idea what that old username is...maybe 'klydster' or 'beachbum' nor do I have any idea what the passwrod is or the email but I believe the category was: http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Construction_and_Maintenance/Employment/Job_Search/ I know I haven't given much to go on but could someone please help me get going again? Also, is it possible to use the username 'oneway' or 'onlyway'? THANK YOU!
jimnoble Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Whilst we usually welcome returning ex editors, we are insistent that they come back under their original identities. That you've forgotten some of your login details or you no longer have access to your original email account are merely stumbling blocks, not show stoppers. Please contact me via http://www.dmoz.org/public/sendemail?editor=jimnoble (Don't use any other method) with as much corroborative information as you can such as:- Approximate date joined Editor name (but not password) Real Name Original email address Joining category Additional categories gained Roughly how many edits done Approximate date of leaving and the circumstances Convince me that you are who you say you are and I can reset your email address of record to one that works today. This will make it possible for you to request a password reminder and complete a reinstatement request form.

onlyway Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Jim, How long does the reinstatement process typically take? Thanks! You have mails .
jimnoble Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Processing reinstatement requests is done by volunteers and we can't predict who will process yours or when. Most English language ones are determined within a month.
